Our wide receivers are still unable to catch the ball and the O-line is still weak. The D-line is underperforming post coach Kul. What we feared would happen over the off-season has come to fruition. The worst case scenario appears to be upon us.

To make matters worse, our kicking game is even lacking, which isn't something I expected.

I'm incredibly disappointed after today's performance. WVU isn't a very good defensive team, which speaks volumes about how truly awful our offense is yet again. Embarrassing...

I was thinking the same thing. Outside of the bs games this might be the worst defense we face all year

Chris Black is the lone guy at WR that I don't worry about his skills. My worry for him is his health. This team overall looks worse then last yr. I think Kul is laughing at Mizzou not keeping him but sad bc his players have regressed drastically. The O-Line can Pass protect which is an improvement but they can't run block to save their lives. Penton and Black were the only bright spots on the team

I think when they get back to COMO, they need to scrimmage against Hickman and Rock Bridge, just to get an idea how the game is played. Except that most decent HS teams would whoop their asses.

There was NOTHING about that debacle in WV that encouraged me about the direction of the program. When a team can't block, tackle, throw, run, or kick it's a long season coming up.

See that's what gets to me. WVU is NOT a good defensive team by any means. If WVU can do that to us, imagine what it's going to be like when we play LSU, UGA, Florida, Tennessee, and Vandy. WVU doesn't hold a candle to those defensive fronts. We're in big trouble.

Disappointing but they still gained 462 yards on offense. That shows some progress. Drew looked off on some of his throws, on the money on others. The pass drops as usual were drive killers.

The defense gave up some points but WV might just be that good.

There were things to like. The running backs and lock looked better. The wideouts looked a lot better. They just need to hold on to the ball. Oline is soft but they are pass blocking.

It's a new team and staff. We won't really know what's up with them till mid season. The O is going to be better. The D is not going to be quite as good it looks like but you can't lose as many studs from the front as we did and still have a top 5 D (unless maybe we recruit like bama). But if the O can take some pressure off of them they will be good. LSU is a reach but the east is still soft

OK. First, I'm really disappointed in today's performance. They looked awful in most areas of the game. Tight end play might be an exception. BUT.

Still managed to move the ball - Lock looked better, just got no help. New coaching staff. New schemes. All new players on the OL. Losses on the DL. Players still jelling and getting used to playing as a unit. Opening week rust and jitters. Much better opening opponent than we've seen in the past several years. West Virginia isn't a bad team.

Before today, I thought we might manage to squeak our way into a bowl game. Might. Now, I doubt it. But I still have some hope we can be competitive, and maybe the talent on D will shine through and keep us in some games, give us a chance to pull an upset or two. Let's see how we progress over the next 2-3 weeks before organizing a fan draft.

We just aren't very good. Now maybe we can improve as the year goes on, and I hope like hell we do but it was pretty obvious that WVU was just better.

It might be a year one major rebuild. We went through one during Bert's first season and it worked out in the long run for us.

We were physically better than them errwhere but on the Oline. They were a well oiled machine. We were a new program. They played as well as they could have. We can play a lot better.

Wait, you're serious?

We played as well as we could? With 2 OL out and our starting QB not being able to throw the ball with a rib injury?

Ok, Im out of here on that one. You guys are seriously delusional. Good luck with the rest of your season.

No I wasn't talking to you I was talking to our board.

I expect you to go undefeated in the Bevo12 and win your playoff games by an average of 50 points.

fer sure

certainly

I would bet errthing I have on it

Some of y'all are overreacting. I'm disappointed, but this was not a good game to have a green OL like ours. WVU runs an aggressive 3-3-5, guys coming everywhere. Add in a new scheme and a hostile environment, and it's a recipe for disaster. WVU is a really good offensive team, I think we'll look back later on during the season and think "dang they only put up 26 on us".

Not making excuses, we played bad. But this isn't the end of the world.

I agree. I think there was a lot unrealistic expectations for us by our fans on this board.

To have gone into Morgantown and won would've been a huge overachievement for a new team, new coach and new schemes.

It's not the end of the world. But there's a lot of work to be done.

462 yards of total offense, is better then most of our games last year.

Still too many missteps, run block still sucks, dropped balls, over thrown/under thrown balls, defensive line, only went through the motions today, our field goal kicker.... WTF... Bad play calling.

Plenty of room for improvement.

I don't think the losing bothers most of us, it's the DL obviously not being where they should, WR's dropping easy passes, easy FG misses. Regardless of opponent it should be difficult to run on our front 7. Drops are lack of mental preparation. We don't seem as strong upfront, LB's were overrunning, stupid, stupid pass interference on 3rd and long from an experienced DB.

Winning may not have been possible, but sloppy, underachieving play is never ok.

Could be worse, we could be Mississippi State fans tonight. Or Sooner fan.
