There must be some Mizzou posters that can talk about your actual team/program. Seriously.

Do you expect Odom to be as good or a better coach than Pinkel?

Is your QB a pocket passer or dual threat?

How do you expect your defense to be this year versus last year?

What is the capacity of your stadium?

Who are your best skilled players, RBs? WRs?

These are all questions I have and, admittedly, an experiment to find decent Mizzou posters.

TIA

Of the two SEC programs in your state, which one will have a better year?

You or Auburn?

Wouldn't be fair to expect it, but I think he can definitely be as good, and maybe even better than Pinkel.

Pocket passer, but our dual-threat backup QB will see the field a decent amount too.

About the same if I had to guess.

What is the capacity of your stadium?

71,168

Defensive linemen, linebackers, and a solid running back named Alex Ross.

You narrowed things down pretty quick asking for Mizzou fans to respond. There aren't many.

Since I vaguely follow and cheer on Mizzou I'll try to answer.

They expect him to be different. What Pinkel did at Mizzou is very impressive but he did have his flaws.

Lock should be a pocket passer, he is very much a pro style QB.

Defense should be very stout this year.

Are we including that neat looking M on one end?

At first glance its Lock and the other positions by committee. Mind you, Missouri has won the East twice with RBs and WRs by committee.

Its a rebuilding year for Mizzou but they will be in a lot of games until the final whistle with their defense.

The West Virginia game is the most important on the schedule. If they lose badly then its going to be a long and ugly year. If they win they will be a pain in the butt to the rest of SEC East and knock off a good team somewhere along the way.

It is hard to answer about Odom being better than Pinkel. Maybe over time he could take it to the high level Pinkel had, but hopefully more consistent. I don't think he will take this team to 2007 or 2013 heights right out of the gate. Would it be fair to compare Odom and Smart since Pinkel and Richt started and ended their tenures at the same time.

Lock will probably be the starting QB. Very highly recruited, and athletic. Took some beating last year, but looking to take a step forward. Zanders the dual threat, and will see some of the field this year.

I think the Defense will be just as good if not better. It was amazing to see the defense be so good not getting any rest with the offense being so poor. More rest could mean bigger plays on defense. We return alot of 2 deep players, and as you know, under recruited players that the coaching staff turns into badasses.

The stadium is just over 70,000. It gets the loud MIZ-ZOU every first down and TD.

Name to watch is true frosh Demetrios Mason, dude can fly and looks very impressive. I expect our OLINE to be nastier this year, which will open up running lanes for OU transfer Alex Ross and true frosh Damarea Crockett. Witter will be a 3rd down back and can catch out of the backfield. Watch our TE's make some noise as well, starting with Sean Culkin. But by no means is our
offense on the same level as defense. If it does, watch out.

I truly believe that this team will win 7 games this year (at least 6-6 reg season). We surprised coming off a dreadful season in 2012, and this team does have the talent to make a run. From the Show-Me-State, I don't see any East team running away with division this year, and could possibly be a 3 loss division champ, coming down to tie-breakers. Since joining the SEC, could never crown an offseason champ, and neither could the AP.

EAST Division Predicitons:
Florida
Tennessee
Georgia
Missouri
Kentucky
Vanderbilt
South Carolina

Mizzou posters are the best on this website. They are truly gifted craftsman when it comes to making threads on this message board. I'm glad Mizzou joined the SEC. It's so nice to have the attractive and intelligent Mizzou posters on this board.

Odom = who knows?

QB a pocket passer or dual thread? No idea

How do you expect your defense to be this year versus last year? Complete mystery

big enough but not too big

what is a "RB" and "WR"? Serious question

Terribly constructed sentence. No idea what you're trying to convey...

The time to actually talk football ended a long time ago.

Reword your OP to include...Safe Space, SJW, Yankee and end it with not so kindly asking us to GTFO out of your conference.

Then we can talk...

Practices have been on lockdown.

Zero info

No one really has any idea how this team will look.

If they say they do, they are full of shite.

Whether they win or lose every Mizzou game this year will be decided by a score of 3-0.

Odom ought to be a bit better. Pinkel was guilty of not having every position be up for grabs each year, and sticking with "his guys". Then even it would become painfully obvious that the backup was better, he still wouldn't change. His motto was "We Do What We Do".

Odom has already shown to be much more innovative, bringing in Heupel and JJ Finley from Baylor to revamp the offense, and getting TCU's D-Coordinator. He also has let every position up for grabs, and may not even release a depth chart before the WVU game. Every kid has a shot, shown by the emergence of the walkon Jordan Harold at DE, who's been able shine on one of the best DL's in the country.

Defense should be the same high quality we've come to expect. We lost only 2 impact players, 1 to the NFL and 1 to dismissal. But from what we've been hearing, this year's crew should be quite a bit faster, and the DL is said to be much tougher on stopping the run.

The team will use a 2 QB system, splitting the duties based on package. Pro-style passer Drew Lock everyone knows, and is said to be making a big step in the awareness/mental part of the game under Heupel (he already had the physical tools). The other QB Marvin Zanders is a legit 4.4 40 guy, who came in being able to play either QB or WR, Florida tried to steal him late, but he stood pat. He would've originally been an afterthought, however he's apparently jumped through the roof in his progression as a passer over the offseason. It will definitely be interesting to watch.

At RB the team has completely changed it's identity, gone are the days of the little scat backs. Starting we have OU graduate transfer and former All American Alex Ross who stands 6-1 220. The next is 4* freshman Damarea "Damage" Crockett who stands 5-11 220. Splitting 3rd down duties will be lasdt year's starter Ish Witter and 4* JUCO transfer Nate Strong.

At WR, only 1 guy who was on the 2 deep last year will make an appearance again, in J'Mon Moore. Starting in the slot will be Alabama graduate transfer Chris Black. Outside of that will be a rotation of guys including a guy they call "K9" Demetrious Mason who has been clocked in the mid 4.3's on the 40, and Justin Smith who stands 6'7" and has incredible range/hands.

Other than that, the big shift expected is a lot more use of the TE's and H-Backs. 3 year starter Sean Culkin is starting to get some recognition as a really good pro-style TE. He had been ragged on a bit for the past couple years, because he isn't the crazy hybrid receiving threat that Coffman, Rucker, and Egnew had been before him, but he blocks better than any of those guys, who all saw time in the NFL.

TLDR: The defense will be pretty much the same, and the offense will look a bit different, but will be better.

I'm not a Mizzou fan, but I will say that I think Missouri made a home run hire with Barry Odom. The dude is a damn good coach. Their defense is going to be nasty good this season. It may take a year or two for him to learn the ropes of being a head coach, but I have nothing but respect for that guy. Does shite the right way and has done nothing but excel at every stop he's been at. I have no doubts that he will turn Missouri into a legit contender in short order.

That said, Missouri is going to struggle a bit this season, and Arkansas is going to wax that arse again at the end of the year.

I think Odom can help the program take the next step. He brought in guys that had preexisting relationships in rich recruiting areas and have produced several elite players. He kept the best instate recruiters from the prior staff. The only real unknown quantity he brought in was his oline coach and it doesn't take much being around Elarbee to figure out that he knows his craft.

quote:

Is your QB a pocket passer or dual threat?

Lock can move the pocket and has elite arm strength. He isn't going to get 10+ designed carries a game but he can move the chains with his legs if there is break down.

quote:

How do you expect your defense to be this year versus last year?

Brothers is tough player to replace but the fact is that since 2005, every starter at WLB has went on to play in the NFL. They have done a good job of filling that spot every time. Brady's production will be replaced by a rotation of guys and the DTs are all the same from last year. The back end of the defense can be better on 3rd down and forcing TOs but Odom hired a new CB coach to help with that.

quote:

Who are your best skilled players, RBs? WRs?

Andy Hill moving back to the WR room was one of the best moves Odom made. That position group was one of the consistencies of GP's tenure and when they moved Hill to QBs and brought in Pat Washington, several things started to erode. Chris Black is being counted on in the slot but the guys I am keeping an eye on are Keyon Dilosa, Emanuel Hall, and Desean Blair. They are all guys that have length to provide mismatches outside. They all got left on the bench last year in favor of upperclassmen that were under performing.

At RB Ross is going to have to carry the load. Witter can be an important part of the offense if he is used correctly but if he is getting 15+ carries a game, it won't be good.

I'm hoping so. His immediate changes to the brand are very promising. Results on field are TBD, but he is saying all the right things for me.

quote:

Is your QB a pocket passer or dual threat?

PP but very athletic. Had D1 offers (including Oklahoma) for basketball.

quote:

How do you expect your defense to be this year versus last year?

More versatile than last year. Brothers was a one man wrecking crew, but we bring back almost everyone else, so very experienced.

quote:

What is the capacity of your stadium?

71,168 I believe. Recent construction has fluctuated it every season.

quote:

Great question. Offense was a genuine suckfest last year...but I'm hoping grad transfers Alex Ross and Chris Black take the reins. Literally can't go lower than second worst offense in FBS.
