TMZ Sports has obtained police footage from a July 27th incident when cops cited the L.A. Rams running back for illegally riding his ATV around his neighborhood in Palm Beach, Florida.

When they got to his home, cops told his family they were concerned Mason was too busy "fricking around" and "should be playing football."

That's when Tre's mother dropped some real talk on the cops.

"No, he actually shouldn't," she said ..."because this is the [side of] football that nobody knows about."

"He's 22 in a 10-year-old's mindset right now ... Tre's not himself at all."

Sad.

This situation is sad, no doubt about it.

But I'm tired of people blaming football for it.

Yeah something serious is going on with Mason and I pray for him and his family that he gets the help he needs.

Either he's got a mental disorder brought on by injuries or perhaps he's just been this way all along and for some reason or another can't control it any longer.

You are clueless. The situations are nothing alike.

Tre Mason needs help.

Sucks. Not only because he was an awesome player, but for him as a person and his family. Hope he can get help.

Doesn't have to be due to injury. Schizo/Bi-Polar is a common mental disorder and most people don't develop it until their late teens/early 20's

Usually if a kid is a headcase through college, you hear about it. Whether it's from others on campus at the same time or from family.

In Mason's case, it just all of sudden came out of nowhere. That points to less of an entitlement issue and more so towards some legitimate mental health issues. Hopefully he gets some help and can get himself back to a better place.

I haven't been following this. What has he done besides riding his four wheeler around his neighborhood to make people think he has a mental disorder?

You don't know what you are talking about. Tre Mason was nothing like Manziel in college. The guy was a great person at Auburn and by no means some extreme nut off the field

I hate to hear this. The guy seems mentally unstable. Hopefully they can get him the counseling and help he needs.

Didn't talk to the Rams, his team, in almost 9 months. Didn't show up to any team activity. Has not communicated with anyone

He also was pulled over and told the cops he was going to call the White House to have them fire the cops. He refused to get out of the vehicle even under threat of them tazing him

At one point, law enforcement had visited his home 5 times in 4 months. This was a month or two ago.

someone started a thread a few weeks ago that was pretty eye opening.

There were some pretty crazy things that I dont' really remember right now, but he definitely seemed a bit "off".

The cops said that to his mother? WTF?
