I keep reading these "prognostications" that show Auburn 6-6 at best. Irritates the hell out of me because Im convinced we're going to be a hell of a lot better than that.

I would be right there with you but the QB spot has me concerned, and when coupled with our schedule 6-6 is a very plausible record, even with fairly respectable play. We could start the season 1-3, and then lose to OM, UGA and Bama down the stretch (all away games).
If QB play is better than last year, I dont see that happening though.

I'm sure someone is, but not myself.

You are on the wrong board bro. This is now the Auburn melt board.

The only thing I am pissed about is the Qb uncertainty. At this point this isn't a problem that Gus inherited from a previous head coach. These are his guys and this is his system and there isn't an excuse for the deplorable production we have had of late.
It still hasn't dampened my excitement for the upcoming season though.... Ask again in a month. Until then let's just get drunk and watch some football

In all fairness, no one could have expected the epic collapse of Jeremy Johnson. We should have been a ten win team last year, but JJ ended up being a complete bust and Sean was thrown into the fire way too early in his development. This year Gus is scrambling to put a Qb on the field that can run his offense and he knows that JF3 isnt going to get the job done....neither is Sean. Woody has the best talent on the team, but is no where near ready.

The confidence with which you state this is interesting to me.

That doesn't piss me off. It's the people that make these picks with certainty (i.e. UGA will definitely beat Auburn). We all know there are no definiites in college football.

It doesn't piss me off after witnessing Gus & Rhett's play calling last year.
Who is ready from some straight ahead WILDCAT?

If we have similar playcalling this year, JF3 may actually be the preferred choice at QB
Who knows what's going on though

I think 75% of the board realizes that CGM struck gold in year one and that he is extremely green in relation to managing a program of our standing. Auburn is not a place for on the job training.

It does not piss me off. If I were outside looking in I would think the same thing. I just have faith we will turn the corner this year with Gus as he matures as a HC.

So let's just ignore that during Gus' tenure, every position group on defense and offense has had dramatic improvements in talent + depth (except QB).
Gus may not be the guy to get us where we want to be, but if someone were to inherit this team, they have an incredible foundation to work with.

I can't agree with the statement on all positions having greatly improved... CTT was a better coach than either Chizik and Malzhan. Every time a CTT team took the field we knew there was an opportunity for victory, that hasn't been a consistent feeling since he left...

That's a whole lotta hyperbola in that post... there were plenty of times tuberville had outmatched teams heading into games... none more obvious than his last one.
