I'm from Hazlehurst and currently live in North Ga. There is pretty much nothing on the face of the earth that could get me to move back to Hazlehurst.
I'm envious. I'm 2 counties away from Jeff Davis and want to be in NE Ga. myself, but the wife ain't leaving all our family. (Also, I'd still rather live in "Hazlehell" over Douglas & Vidalia!)

some people like the city/metro life, some like the rural life, and neither are wrong. Get over yourself.
This is a message board though. You're suppose to have an opinion and bash others upside the head with it. What you're describing is a trust circle where we all hold hands, sing Kumbuya, and have complement contests to try and win a back-rub. frick that. Count me out.

in Columbus for 4 days for a conference abotu 2 years ago, I was pretty surprised actually. It's not some grand oasis or anything but there was stuff to do anyway.
That's an ATL comment personified, right there.
Were you also shocked that people weren't fricking their sisters and grunting on porches when they weren't out choppin baca or burnin crosses. Holy shite..

I was waiting for the Augusta post. Yeah downtown Augusta sucks. Columbia county ain't bad.

Im sure Columbus had some sports themed gastro pubs where you can wear your favorite jersey and hang out with some friends to watch the big game and have some jalapeno poppers.

Columbus, GA is a big city. Too big. Biggest in Georgia next to NYC in fact, right?
But Atlantans are pleasantly surprised to find that it has running water and jalapeño poppers.

I recently spent a little time over in Clayton Ga. That place is calling my name, problem is the railroad don't offer transfers over there and I highly doubt my gf would be willing to move right now either.

I would live in Fitzgerald over Douglas - barely, though.
A true tossup although Douglas years ago wasn't the worst place in the world. Fitz is just full of drugs especially Heroin and Meth and the only industry their is Trailor plants and cargo Trailors. I still think in that general area if I had a choice to live somewhere it would probably be Tifton and even that isn't saying much.

I don't get all the Macon hate. Sure I don't live there, but am just south of it and I've never had a problem with it. Sure there are sides of Macon to avoid, but what city isn't like that? I've played in many softball tournaments in Central City Park on Fri and Sat nights and never had any problems with violence (other than teams talkin shite), or any 'thugs'. I would consider this area to be sketchy, but the only bad thing about it is the homeless people but they don't do anything but ask for change.
Maybe I've been lucky, but I haven't seen anything bad go down or had any bad experiences with Macon.

It is funny reading the old Firefox books and the old timers referring to Clayton as a bustling metropolis they steer clear of. What with all the motor cars and whatnot.

In the future, when they thaw Walt Disney out of his cryogenic deep freeze.......do you think he'll kick himself when he realizes that people weren't just willing to visit theme parks......but that one day they'd actually live inside them? Voluntarily.
Far out.
Far out.

The first fight I ever witnessed between women, which was a rolling on the ground hair pulling contest, occurred there.

Excepting Camden County, South Georgia is shithole.

I got lost in the Macon back country once. Saw down scary arse shot in the middle of the day.
The most horrified I've ever been as a Georgian though was at a gas station in Dublin on a Friday night.

What, you mean a place called Dublin wasn't full of white irish dudes drinking car bombs.

Ok there were no cities north of Macon on the list. I grew up in Morrow. Morrow HS c/o99. I've been out of that area for 14 years. How is Riverdale, East pernt, college park, etc not on that list?

The Disney culture is weird. So Cal has plenty of people who go to Disneyland *every day*. They know all of the people who work there by name, can recite all of the ride intros and such verbatim, etc.
