Inspired by the thread on the SEC board.
We've had some unique low points in our program. What was your personal "rock bottom" as an Alabama fan?

My worst game ever attended would probably be last year's Ole Miss game bc I was so hyped for it (I can only afford one game a year) and then we lose. That was the lowest point of any games I've attended. One of the lowest points of the Saban era would have to be the Kick 6 for me. I partially died that night. BUT, I think the lowest point I've had being an Alabama football fan would have to be listening on the radio to Alabama lose at home to Louisiana Monroe. That was terrible.

I became a Bama fan during Franchione's first season (2001), so for me it would be the 2003 season (Mike Shula's first year). That team was DOA. I was in college and was constantly defending/making up excuses with OSU and other SEC fans. It was rough.

I have never felt sad to be a Bama fan, but the lowest I've ever felt was after Mike Price got caught with the stripper.
After the personal and professional failings of DuBose, the sanctions, and the cowardice of Fran, that totally unexpected gut punch was really staggering.

1973 Sugar Bowl 24-23 loss to Notre Dame. That team could've been considered one of the best of all time...

Personal rock bottom point for me:
LaTech's Tim Rattay and the damn TE that wore Bama out.
Prior to the game I got the chance to speak with some of the LaTech equipment staffers and they were very confident that they could/would beat Bama. They weren't arrogant, just confident...and defeat Bama they did due to the play of Rattay and their TE. (Who I think, if I remember correctly, was a 1st round draft pick.)

Mike Price.
Not just because of what he did, but due to all the years before it and then that piled on top of everything.
I was so battered by everything that happened, that the only thing I wanted out of Shula was to not embarrass us any further.
And I still refuse to give Shula a single ounce of shite, because for the most part he did that and at least had the program in good enough shape for Saban to consider taking it over.

1997. I took my wife to her first Bama game and it was Miss. State; 11:30 am kickoff on JP, State beat Bama's arse pretty bad and it was a freezing cold, rainy day. That day sucked on such a large scale. Best part of that day is it was the last day I had to watch Freddie Kitchens in Bryant Denny in person.

The Gottfried/Grant era. Gottfried because he pissed away all the talent and Grant because he was such a disappointment.
Most of my lows have to do with the basketball program. Hard to be upset with our football history.

December 8, 2006. The day Rich Rodriguez said thanks, but no thanks.
In hindsight it turns out that was the best thing that could have happened to us, but in the moment it was definitely one of the worst feelings I have ever experienced. I knew then as I know now that it's just a game and football doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but holy shite I felt like someone in my family had just died when Mal Moore broke the news.

1972 Orange Bowl. Nebraska beat Alabama 38-6 for the National Championship.
The game wasn't that close. Devaney called off the dogs at halftime.
While later (infrequent) losses during the 70s were heartbreaking, the knowledge that a "great" Alabama team could be so thoroughly dominated in every phase of the game was traumatic to me as a young fan.

Gottfried at least got us to the elite 8 and was a relief after David Hobbs. The ending of his coaching career here sucked though, so I'd say that too.

Easy one. Shula's last Iron Bowl. Fear the thumb. Typical Shula coached game; close but lose it in the end due to mistakes and turnovers. After that game I was PISSED! Was packing all my Bama gear in a box. I had been a Bama fan for all my 40 years and I'd been through ups and downs but that was the last straw. I told my wife I wasn't watching Alabama anymore, wouldn't root for the or send in my Tide Pride donation unless they fired that idiot coaching them. Wrote Mal Moore an email saying I would not donate another dime to Bama as long as Shula was coach. As I was getting ready to throw my Bama gear in the trash, my wife said, "Be patient" and she took the stuff away from me and put it in her closet. A week later, she smiled and handed it back to me and I told her she was right. Only times I've been that disgusted with Bama is Bill Curry and Mike Shula and both were total buffoons as coaches. At least Shula's heart was in the right place.

The lowest point for me was the Means scandal.. When they announced the penalties I knew Bama was in for a rough several years..

Even though Dubose had a good year I never felt good about his ability to take bama to a natty. His pre game speeches to the media were hard to watch. He left us in bad shape when the sanctions went down.

Dubose was just embarrassing.....sounded like a moron with that bad comb over and always talking about his faith after a beatdown. So many low points.....
Means scandal
1998 Music City Bowl
The entire 2000 season
Fran's "hold the rope"
Mike Price and his date with Destiny
Shula's press conference
Shula's 2006 season
My lowest point was right after we fired Shula, we were rejected by Rodriguez, and it appeared this was never going to end.
