I'm not gonna flame or anything in this thread. I've seen a good bit of objective LSU fans which are clearly just joking around saying "15-0! Goin' to the 'ship bawwww." However, I've seen a good bit of 11-2, 10-3, at worst 9-4 and so forth. Some have even completely abandoned all subjective fandom and just implied that it's Alabama until further notice.

Regardless of all that, what DOES have have the lot of you excited about this year other than a generally consistent Fournette? Has the defense shown improvement or is there some kind of wrinkle being promised to thrown in?

Discuss.

Btw, just a random bit of information....when I typed consistent Fournette, it spellchecked it for some reason to "gourmet restaurant."

Amount of returning production. That was easy.

We actually have a senior class this year with a lot of depth at every position. The addition of Aranda has us all excited.

Short answer, quite possibly the best combo of talent and experience LSU has had in the Miles era.

Long answer, for the first time in recent memory LSU managed to avoid seeing its depth chart get gutted by early departures, plus the core of the team (Fournette, Dupre, Adams, etc.) are now entering their JR seasons. Replacing Steele with Aranda is the icing on top of this deliciously stacked cake.

Their returning 18 from last year. And I'm sure there's a feeling that Les at least got the shite scared out of him at the end of the season with the way Alleva handled supposed "firing".....maybe Les will get his arse out of the offense and let Cam run his own show.

I think they go 8-4. Loss to Bama until proven otherwise. I think they can't contain Kelly, so loss to Ole Miss. Loss to Florida who will have probably the top 1 or 2 defenses in the SEC this year. I also think A&M holds them under 20 points for the 2nd year in a row and grinds out a 34-17 or 27-17 type win.

8-4

Because they have a shite load of talent and if Harris can just be competent they should be the favorite to win the west.

4340, I think it all depends on our November schedule. I honestly can't think of any other reason that our season will hinge on anything other than that.

Wouldn't be surprised if LSU won the West this year. That's probably why they're excited, dummy

Tre White
Jamal Adams
Savion Smith
Donte Jackson
Kendal Beckwith
Arden Key
Lewis Neal
Davin Godchaux
Lacouture
Are all experienced defensive players who will go in the top three rounds.

Malachi Dupre
Travin Dural
Leonard Fournette
Ethan Pocic
Tommy Clapp
Toby Weathersby
Maea Teuhema
Derrius Guice
are similar quality on the offensive side.
Our QB is returning after a solid first year of starting. Add in a great recruiting class, and that explains it.

A lot of experience and a lot of talent. It's pretty easy to see the reason for optimism.

In the past LSU lost a lot of guys with eligibility remaining. This year they came back. 18 returning starters. Also, Harris seemed to respond to having Cam on the sidelines coaching him instead of in the booth. The bowl offense was much more wide open. Leads to optimism.

Ok.

I think any so called SEC football fan who has to ask this question is full of shite.

You say you are a Alabama fan. You can't see why some LSU fans would be really excited? General knowledge of football and the SEC should have given you the answer you seek.

The hope that B. Harris has improved enough to be serviceable and respected as a quarterback. If that happens, pieces will start to fit into place through the year for a special season. Of course that is best case scenario.
