Yeah, I think we nailed it by hiring him. I was skeptical at first, but he seems to have the right mindset to handle being an SEC coach.

I think he did well as well on another note, how do yall feel on his approach with keeping the media out of UGA business?

I hope he's not as confrontational and paranoid as Saban but he can't go the buddy-buddy route either. We've been burned way too many times by the AJC and ABH.

Richt went the buddy-buddy route i think its refreshing to see the way Kirby Smart is handling the media.

It's going to drive the media (and many fans) nuts to have such limited information, but personally, the proof is in the pudding. Put a quality field on the product and get rid of the head scratchers, and the limited info will be coupled with a healthy amount of trust/faith in what's going on behind the curtain. The question is how well that works if things are going less smoothly.
I think he's finding a good balance between the "I'm not telling you anything" and "sure, come over here and stand over my shoulder" approaches. Works for me.

He handles himself well. It's media days though, few people don't.
The 90 day thing is sketchy as shite and I think it's cowardly.
I'm fine with him being stand-offish towards media, that's his prerogative, but flat out refusing to disclose routine information is sketchy.

Good thing about that is no one cares what you think.. Anything possible we can do to give us an edge on the opponent, regardless of how small it may be, is fine by me. Our past regime seemed to do just the opposite which was infuriating at times.

I didn't really follow much yesterday, what exactly did he refuse to disclose?

Nothing yesterday. Like I said, he did well. I'm talking about the 90 day rule they enacted previously.

Nothing. And the legislation that was passed doesn't say that we *won't* disclose information in less than 90 days, simply that we have that amount of time to comply. I think 90 days is a bit much personally, 30-45 seems reasonable, but I also don't think it's as big of a deal as the media would like us to believe.

Oh.
Meh.
It's not like he's gonna sit at a press conference and respond to questions with "I'll tell you in 3 months". I thought that 90 day thing was more along the lines of responding publicly to open records requests. I don't think Kirby's interactions with the media will be affected at all by that.

It won't.

I generally agree. I don't think Kirby did it with the intention of doing bad stuff. It just feels paranoid. It screams "we have shite to hide"

You do understand that Kirby can't pass laws, right? He was merely asked his opinion on the matter, and I can promise you that his opinion his minimal to no bearing on if it was passed or not.
I'm sure you already knew of all of this and are well versed on the subject, just wanted to refresh your memory.

I am. I'm aware HE didn't pass the law, but anyone who thinks an SEC football coach has "minimal to no bearing" on a decision directly impacting a university's athletic department is kidding themselves.
Saying "Kirby did it" was admittedly an overreach, but the point still stands.
