Wow. So sad. I didn't realize her health had gotten that bad. My grandmother suffered from the disease for 13 years.

Wow hate to hear it. My dad is 67 and suffering from v dementia as well so I really hate it. She will forever be a historical figure for women's athletics.

It is said you don't die directly from dementia, but every case a person with dementia will die sooner than one without.
I guess it's like what my father went through and his dementia : he just lost so much weight because he didn't / wouldn't eat enough and his body just got so weak.
Went from his normal 170 to at or below 100 when he died.
