You need to make it a point to go. It's a disservice to yourself if you live in Arkansas or relatively close and haven't been.

I'm by no means an art lover, but this place is incredible. Had some extra time in bentonville this afternoon and decided to check it out. Already planning a return visit.

It's incredible. It is something all Arkansans should be proud of.

I've tried to describe it, but it truly must be experienced.

Agreed. The grounds alone are worth at least one visit. You can't really take in the collection in one trip. The building itself is a work of art, too.

It's not officially 5 years old yet. It will be one of America's best art museums shortly.

Great museum, wrong location. I have yet to have an experience that wasn't ruined by trailer trash talking about how they could have made this or that in the most southern accent I've ever heard.

If you have kids the Amuseum is doing a deal on Wednesdays where you can make any donation from 4:30-7 and everyone in your party gets in free. Best bargain around if you have kids or grandkids.

would you go up to a southern woman and call her a "sling blade mother fricker" to her face?

Lol get yaself some of them old people headphones they got if it bothers you that much. There is a lot of expensive abstract art in that museum which looks super easy to recreate, which is why the rednecks complain. However if you've ever actually tried to make abstract art, it's really not that simple.

Did you take the time to have a friendly discussion with them about the merits of the pieces and how it fits in to its genre of art? And what that genre is attempting to represent? Wouldn't passing on that type of knowledge benefit our state of "southern-accented rednecks"?

Free, high quality museums can only help our state in the long term. But it relies on people not being elitists and passing on their intimate knowledge of the craft.

Humanities is a course most will take while in college, it isn't elitist knowledge of the art that is handed down umongst a tight kit group.

It does ultimately come down to personal taste of the pieces, the elitists are the ones who argue why you should like the pile of dog shite before you and how if you don't you are not refined or educated enough to properly do so.
