As for you, OP, you know my background. Next Saturday will be my 5 year wedding anniversary to a white gal (I was 22 when I got married, and she was 21. Our birthday's are both in July).
You've gotten some good advice from a lot of perspectives itt. Meeting on his terms, in my opinion, is an excellent sign of good faith. Be careful, of course, but just present yourself as a man who loves his daughter very much and is willing to go to any lengths (even potentially uncomfortable ones) to make her happy and show her family respect.
If he can't respect that, that's his problem, not yours.

Just take it like a man. Don't get pissed because a father is irritable about the guy who is dating his daughter. That is how we roll. As for the racial thing, don't take it personally. You will win him over as much as possible by proving that you take care of his daughter, treat her with respect, and handle your business. It takes time. Honestly, if you are a parent whose only exposure to black people is what you see on tv, wouldn't you have a natural fear for her? Same for black parents. Its human nature bud.
I watched my father take a lot of shite from his father in law. He did it because he cared about my mom and didn't want to cause a rift that would suck in his wife, her mother and everyone else. Be a man.

More so on the ot and political talk. But do you really think there aren't many racists throughout the boards? I'm not saying it's a majority, but there are plenty.
Plus, there was the other auburn fan who was against race mixing. He's not be lighting crosses, but there's definitely some prejudice there. But he brought an interesting perspective to the table and gave his advice
