See you in Atlanta this year.

Just kidding, have fun with that 7-5 / 8-4 record

Edit: It was actually 6 straight wins to finish off 2015 and 7 out of the last 8 including blowing out #12 Northwestern, beating #19 UGA, and taking future National Champion Bama down to the wire, but don't let facts get in the way : )

And most of the hype is coming from the media.

Wasn't 2015 the first year since the Fulmer era that Utk topped 7 wins?

I really think they will have a top ten team. If Butch doesn't deliver this year then the billies will be restless. I think he's good for 10 or 11 wins though. They have a nice roster and manageable schedule.

Well....North Texas is understandable...a lot of SEC teams schedule a weaker opponent just before the end of the season...in our case we always have to face a usually high ranked girls school.

The east was weak last year, those four SEC teams werent the creme de la creme exactly and UGA's team....they shouldnt have been ranked when UT faced them. A down year for them.

On paper UT should be better...but we will have to see how their LBers & secondary play first. UT is front loaded with their schedule and always have to face us early and then Bama later at midway point. If they beat us it isnt an automatic pass to Hotlanta...true they would be front runners but I remember when they beat us in 1992 when Spurrier had a weak team early on and then UT imploded and lost three SEC games? You never know. It allowed us to be in the inaugural SECCG with 2 losses.

UT faces Bama and we face LSU at home....thats a wash more or less. We wont play Ole Miss and instead travel to the quaint area of Ar Kansas (that pizzes them off 0 and then we play Mizzou, USC at home and Vanderbilt on the road. We also play UK the second game of the season at home. We have three softer teams OOC and then play at Tallyban.

Both groups look very strong and should be towards the top of the division.

Jalen Reeves Maybin (OLB) is one of the best LB's in the conference going into his SR year and Darrin Kirkland (MLB) just received FR All American Honors last season.

The biggest weakness on the defensive side of the ball will be depth at DT. Even then, we bring back McKenzie, Tuttle, Mixon, Vickers, O'Brien and Picou. Add in Shoops at DC and we have what should be the best defense UT has fielded since the Chavis era. Should be fun to watch

Well....we have a potential first rounder in Jarrad Davis # 40 who is a load...but we have some question marks ourselves at LB with depth...Kylan Johnson, a converted safety played very well and we have upperclassmen who are out mending their wounds...could have played but why risk it? Our entire defense otherwise is a lot better than folks realize...we can rotate 8 DL without too much dropoff and thats always important.

I know about Maybin but looking at last years roster I see some no names like us. Our best LB didnt play Friday cause he had shoulder injury but ok'ed to play after surgery....Alex Anzalone. He has been practicing no contact. He has been injury prone.
