To quote Daniel Tosh:

This is what I say to the most conservative person that's so terrified of gay marriage becoming legal. Just because the state says it's legal, it's not like God's going to let them into Heaven. So you can still sleep sound every night knowing that goal line defense is up at the pearly gates just going, You're not getting in here fagots.

Ok, one more last post :D

I see that you are reading a pro-gay article written with your talking points. But there is a problem with your facts. The septuagint, the Greek translation of the Hebrew OT, uses those same words to describe homosexuality. And certainly the septuagint predates the 19th century text you so ardently reject

effeminate does not mean "catcher" and the link you provided did not translate to "homosexual".

I know you're done posting, so have a good one.

It's actually a human rights website, and the first one I came across. I didn't use this article in my original posts, as I've read and learned everything I posted far before reading that article. Also, it's actually not an article but a forum.

Look, 1 Corinthians 6:9 has been debated over for years and years. It is not clear what that passage says.

µa?a??? translates to "soft" in KJV and is used in context throughout the NT in a matter where "soft": makes much more sense than "effeminate". It is certainly not clear AT ALL that Paul meant for this to mean "catcher" and for someone to state this as fact is disingenuous at best.

??se?????t?? translates to "male bed". Not "homosexuality".

This particular translation has been debated for a long time and you are not going to convince me that this translates to gay sex. You're just not. And I don't plan on convincing you otherwise.

eta I assume this is the site where you got your image earlier and it is one of many that debate this particular translation.

quote:

The NIV does a particularly bad job at conveying these issues. Instead of translating the two terms separately, the NIV translators chose to merge µa?a??? and ??se?????t?? together and translate them as “men who have sex with men.” They include a revealing footnote which says “The words men who have sex with men translate two Greek words that refer to the passive and active participants in homosexual acts.”

Deal just vetoed the same bill bc Hollywood said they'd pull out of Ga. They kinda forced him to bc of the amount of revenue that was being generated.

Mississippi lacks a strong business community to speak out against a law like this.

The Red-wave GOP elected by pissed-off anti-Obama voters tried something similar to this last year in Arkansas.

We have 7 Fortune 500 companies, a few of which came out against it and the governor didn't sign and told the state GOP to slow their roll.

Kentucky's Republican Senate floated a similar bill this year but the Democrat-controlled House shot it down. It'll be interesting to see how many southern legislatures that failed to pass these anti-gay bills will try again next year. It may be a moot point if the Supreme Court gets a case before then.

Arkansas having several Fortune 500 companies and Mississippi having none, is hard to figure since MS is the bigger manufacturing state. It just goes to show how inept our leadership has been in the past, settling with good ol' boy politics of achieving personal gain and watching the world go by.

It was the right decision because the bill would've allowed religious-based entities like shelters (that get tax breaks and subsidies) to discriminate.

I love all people and I'm ok with the law. I think in a free society we should be able to determine who we serve in a private business, and it's the role of society to discourage and punish discrimination in the free market via protest and boycott.

We don't need the government to social engineer society

Mississippi only made a law to keep government from intruding on religious beliefs. Less government = more freedom.

For people of the state to discriminate, which has been said, is a function the government should take a part in controlling.

Only in Mississippi...there are a bunch of holy roller hypocrites running the state.

Once the Supreme Court gets involved this law will go away.

Business community was directing the kkk in the 60s though the citizen council. I am surprised Toyota or someone didn't step in on this. The fricking hate necks don't give a flying frick about tourism since thats the coast natchez and casinos.

The stupidity of this is unreal but the stupidity of the average citizen in Mississippi is also unreal. Btw I'd God hated gay people so much why didn't jesus say something about it. Most of his sermons were against Rich assholes best I can remember

They think that Jesus kept criticizing gay people but the bible writers forgot to mention it. Everything in the bible except Jesus' lack of gay hate is considered inerrant though.
