Freeze attributes the program's recruiting success against Alabama to hard work.

"I feel like I have to personally recruit 12-15 guys in order to beat a Nick Saban who may call the parent one time," Freeze told CBS Sports. "They may still beat us. We're winning our share now, but it's taking an enormous amount of work to do. Will that ever change? It has ... some."

Freeze indicated to CBS Sports that he's heard the talk about how his program couldn't have achieved as much as it has in recruiting by the rules.

"Have I been insulted? Absolutely. Many times," Freeze said. "I handle it a lot better now. ... The perception out there and the narrative of all this pay-for-play that is, in my opinion, very inaccurate."

"We're extremely confident in who we are and how we do things inside this building," he added.

That is an interesting way to put that if you are the head coach. Seems like a little plausible deniability built in relative to boosters.

I love how in one breath, Saban is a maniacal control-freak who eats, sleeps, and breathes football. A man who leaves no stone unturned.

But when it's convenient, he just picks up the phone and makes one phone call and things fall into place

I think this is stupid. Nick Saban loves to recruit and he flys all over the country to visit these recruits when he's allowed.

During his 1st year the NCAA even made a new rule because Saban was visiting kids schools and accidently bumping into them. Now he has to sit at home during the spring and let his staff go out recruiting in the spring, and he has repeatedly said he hates it.

Nick Saban is a recruiting machine. And the other schools had to step it up since he's been Bama's coach.

They are just whining because they have to work now.

Ole Miss is currently #36 in recruiting after being caught cheating. Seems like pretty concrete evidence to me.

That's awfully specific.

ETA: Posted from first page. Good to see others snatched that line up as well. Definitely feels like laying the safety net. #justincase

Why would you qualify your answer that your program is cheating?

What sounds more convincing

"I never cheated on my wife."

or

"The rumors that I cheated on my wife are, in my opinion, false."
