I agree, I actually thought our defense played pretty well that game.
I was called crazy on this board and in particular on the Bama board when I said after the game that for the first time in two years, I felt pretty good about the secondary. It was just a different feel - they were in the right place most all game.

But yea, Kiffin got caught up in the catch up mode towards the end
It was a bad call and I'm sure he'd like it back but I could understand the mindset. They'd been in catchup mode all night. I do agree that a steady diet of Henry probably results in a game winning drive at the end.

I would argue that Jacob Coker was still pretty christ awful even at the end of the year
He was pretty good at what we asked him to do down the stretch. He made big throws in big spots against Auburn, Florida, Michigan State and Clemson. The guy had some nuts on him.

The man took a team led by BLAKE SIMS, and got the the playoff, and won the whole damn thing with a bad JAKE COKER. Unless this Barnett kid ends up being a trainwreck on the same level as Jeremy Johnson, I would pick Bama to roll again to another title in 2016.
Yea, I expect Barnett to be pretty good. He's definitely more talented than any of our other guys.
But it all comes down to a few plays in a few games. We should be in the middle of it next year, but the league is so damned competitive it is hard to predict to lose 0 or 1 games.

Damn, I didn't even make it that far into the OP. Derrick Henry: unexplosive singles hitter.

and I would argue that you either did not watch any Alabama games after the halfway point in the season, or you are mentally challenged.

Oh yea, me too. And it had been successful. It's easy to second guess it after the fact, but the previous 5 or 6 drives we had made plays doing what he did the 7th drive.

Even less hyped than Old Misses Heisman winners.

Coker from Charleston Southern to Clemson (5 games)
87/120 (72.5%)
1,159 yards
9 TDs

He wasn't even a top 3 back in the SEC, and shouldn't have won the Hiesman.
He has decent vision, but he's desperately unexplosive, and has almost no cutting ability. He's fast once he has time to build up speed, but he won't be able to bully NFL D-Lines with pure size like he did in college.
This is wrong on basically every point. I don't think it's possible to be any more misinformed.
Youtube highlights:
@1:42 - Presses the hole and cuts outside on a dime.
@1:52 - Shows great hip flexibility and quick feet to bounce the run outside. Hits full speed by his second or third step upfield (for the "he hits the LOS too slow" crowd).
@2:50 - Same
@3:08 - Breaks down multiple defenders in the open field
These are just a few plays that demonstrate what he consistently showed game after game.
HS 40
In highschool he ran a 4.54 40 and if the timer shown is accurate we can guesstimate that he hit the 10 yard split at ~1.64 (only a few RBs were under 1.6 last year; Gordon was at 1.63, Rawls at 1.72). Considering he's not put on a significant amount of weight since it only stands to reason that he's even faster now.

Henry will do fine in the NFL, but the RB position isn't a difference maker anymore.

But how the frick could anyone call him "not explosive".. dude was basically a home run hitter. He'll hit you for 3 ypc 30 times a game and then bust off a handful of long runs where he is literally unstoppable.

Gonna go with no, considering there have been Heisman winners go undrafted.
God, this board sucks donkey dick now.

Which games would he have outperformed Henry in?
Gone for 250 vs Wisconsin?
Gone for 200 vs Ole Miss?
Maybe 400 vs A&M?
How about 350 vs LSU?
All of them.. probably. He would have certainly averaged better than a mediocre 5.6 ypc

Not sure. Let me think about this over a spice blunt and I will get back to you if I remember.

Jason White
Eric Crouch
Chris Weinke
Danny Weurffel
Gino Torretta
all guys off top of my head who were less hyped than Henry pre-draft. Also, Henry will be drafted higher than any player in that list.

Troy Smith was a 6th round pick
Jason White was undrafted
Gino Torretta was undrafted
