so a 10 yard difference between 2nd place and 6th place, kind of what i expected. so no there was not some drastic change in LSU's numbers compared to their peers, which is exactly why i said you were cherry picking numbers to suit your argument

LSU had the largest difference between performance overall and performance against winning teams, and along with Arkansas it was a pretty solid largest difference (#5, Florida, had a difference 15 yards less. #2, Georgia, had a difference 25 yards less).

And my entire point was LSU's performances against bad teams and good teams that year were much wider and more varied than other teams in the league. Which this shows.

your point was to discredit the notion LSu had a good defense. It was a defense that shut down Alabama to 13 points and 290 yards in regulation (499 ypg and 37 ppg), shut down Ole Miss to 10 points and 313 yards(443 ypg 30 ppg), shut down A&M to 17 points and 228 total yards (449 ypg 34 ppg), honestly Arkansas didn't do anything on offense either 17 points and 264 yrds (410 ypg 32 ppg). Those are pretty substantial deviations from those teams' averages. That was LSU's last 4 games. Their numbers are killed by the first two SEC games of the year.

That defense completely changed after Beckwith replaced Welter

Absolutely not true. My point was to discredit the notion that LSU had an elite defense. LSU had a good defense, I don't discredit that at all.

Top 10 in the country out of 125 teams.

Top 8%.

"Elite" is subjective, but top 8% is not.

LSU is soft in the trenches.

LSU lost by 52 points to the top 3 teams in the West in 2015.

Ouch

#18th in yards per play
#31st in yards per play vs Power 5 teams

Again, they were solid, and has been pointed out their early season troubles with State and Auburn killed them.

Scoring defense LSU was #5 out of 125 teams. Top 4%.

LSU was #1 in yards allowed against an opponent on Saturday night in Baton Rouge south of I-10. That's top 0.1%.

The fact is that LSU was #1 in defense in the SEC for 2014. #1 in the SEC in any given year is generally considered elite. - UNLESS it's LSU, then Alabama fans have to parse out the data to show that LSU's defense wasn't really "elite", but more like "good show".

You're one of the better Alabama posters on the board.

Unfortunately that's not saying much.

I say frick it all, LSU's defense for 2016 will hurt some people and allow LSU to win some games and will be overall improved from 2015 and will be better than most.

I would take the defense of LSU in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately there must have been some kind of miscommunication because we got the coach instead of the D.

Not really, I parse our data out all the time, especially when it is between All teams/pretty good teams/conference teams/bowl teams. Gives a better picture.

Yea, I agree, they will be a lot better. Especially with Aranda.

This.

With Welter in there, we were being gashed right up the middle. When Beckwith finally started, it was like flipping a switch.

Ole Miss is a better program than yours right now. Can't believe it can you? You can't beat Bama, you can't beat Ole Miss, and you haven't won a bowl game like the Sugar Bowl since the Bush administration.

L5U is done, it's over.

Dear "DingDong".....we have won the NC (twice) 2003 and 2007 plus the SEC Championship 4 times since 2000. And Ole Miss has won what????

Old South never forgets the past and never moves on.

As Old South likes to dance to "wish I was in the land of cotton, Old times there are not forgotten"
