Imagine the ratings on a Saturday night. What's the reason for Monday again?

Because people are getting off work on a Monday after the holiday. They are more than likely tired af, wanting to sit their fat asses on the couch and watch a little fooseball.

So as not to compete with the NFL playoffs. They've been on a Monday for several years, well before the cfb playoffs.

I don't understand why the NFL doesn't play the playoff games Saturday at 1 and 4 with the CFB NCG at 8.

My personal preference would be play the Semi's 2 weeks after the CCG at the top 2 home stadiums. Then play the big 6 on the 1st and 2nd (using this year as an example), with the matchups of the Semi winners, Semi losers followed by whatever rules they have in place for the other games.

Why take the biggest draw in all of TV somewhere other than prime time?

Don't really care about it being on Monday but the game is too far after the other games.

You're right which is why I like my 2nd idea better, ends the season before the NFL playoffs.

The wait makes it feel more like an exhibition game than a championship game because football season feels definitively over before the game starts.

Yep, the hype is dead for me, at least for cfb.

Seriously, people in the south, particularly Alabama, would rather watch Monday Night Raw than a stupid college football game.

I'm having people over, grilling out and drinking on what is normally a boring Monday night. I don't mind.

Better than catching up on the dvr with the nagging wife

Because TV wants a dead night to max ratings even if it means actual fans have harder time attending live game. Venues and host cities don't care because those fans are replaced by corporate folks who pay 10 times as much to see and bee seen even if they don't give a crap about either team playing.

Same thing happens for the NCAA basketball championship.

It is stupid.

Have it on a Saturday and people could plan huge parties. Bars and restaurants could have all day events.

They could turn Championship Saturday into another Super Bowl Sunday.
