They are firing Pagano and there is mutual interest between Sumlin and GM Ryan Grigson I'm told.

I got nothing but love for you Roger but I don't believe this

Even if it is just to fulfill the Rooney rule, he will interview.

Good, let him leave.
And for the record, I don't think his swag, DJ practices coaching style will translate well the the NFL either. Don't know why he was rumored for so many NFL jobs.

Please dear god make this happen.

What are our real options though if, for whatever reason, sumlin isn't coaching? Herman just signed an extension with Houston and there's no way Kelly is coming back to college. Even mid level people like fedora have signed extensions. What are our options?

Extensions are made to be bought out.
We'd save money on Sumlin leaving and buying out another, than having to fire him next year.
Fedora
Herman
Les (yes, I said it)

This is a great year to be searching. What we don't want is to have to compete with UT next year.

Not to mention possibly auburn & lsu just off the top of my head.

My personal opinion would be to make a hard run at Meachum or Cumbie at TCU. I would also go get Sherman away from high school ball and bring him back to coach and recruit offensive line.
I would go after Sherman even with Sumlin as HC. Our O line is attrocious and you can't get around that in the SEC. Obviously I am saying shite you already know.
That's what I would try to do anyway. Sumlin isn't going anywhere though.

Sweet.
He can ruin Andrew Luck too

Bring Sherman back? That dude wouldn't even answer the phone if he knew we were calling. I'd be less surprised if the second coming off Christ happened tomorrow and it was John Wayne in drag than if Sherman returned to coach OL.
I'm glad we fired him but we did so pretty unprofessionally

I see this as less probable than the guys on Finding Bigfoot finding bigfoot. We fired him in a recruit's driveway. I'm not saying that it didn't need to be done, but the way we did it was embarrassing and heaped shame on our school. He probably thinks ill of us, for good reason. Would you work for someone, in a lower capacity that you had before, if they had fired you and spit in your eye? C'mon man. Sherman is done. He moved back home and is enjoying his semi-retirement as a HS coach and probably teaching English lit, which is his first love.

He is coaching high school now so I think he takes the call. Besides, the people that did that to him are all gone.
I was asked what I would do. That's what I would do. I never answer for someone else so I would make the call. He put together the best offensive lines we had since Jackie Sherrill was in CS. He can recruit lineman and has experience getting them ready for next level shite. This carries weight. High school coaches in Texas respected him.
Like I said, that's what I would do.

Okay. Question. Aggies seem to think any opportunity for Sumlin to the NFL he would jump but what's the consensus on whether or not he's even on GMs radar?

He is coaching High School to have something to do with his free time and to give back/contribute positively to the lives of young men because that's what he enjoys and feels compelled to do. He's not doing it to climb back up the ladder. He is a very wealthy man and is essentially retired. He is not looking for or desiring another college or NFL job. He is done with that stage of his life.
He absolutely would not take the call and no one in a position to make it would, because they know what I just stated above.
