If you had told me Hubenak would throw for 320 with multiple TDs Id have told you we won a laugher.
They got as good s game from Hubes as we could have expected and still lost to a 7-5 ACC team. Embarrassing.

I liked Hubenack's composure. Thought he did fairly well and believe with an offensive staff overhaul we can win games in a true air raid system with him next year.
He's got a different style, but it is workable. Our receivers seemed to respond to him better than the other two.

Call me crazy, but our weakness has never and still isn't our QBs. It's our damn coaching. Our WRs aren't as aggressive as they once were and our O-line looks like a Sun Belt quality offensive line.

That "Moon Moon" meme is a PERFECT representation of Spavitard.

Our 2 main weaknesses during the season were in the spotlight:
1) LB's out of position in the running game - Louisville QB gashing us in the first half.
2) Inconsistent OL play - no consistent run game and too many sacks/QB hurries allowed.
Hubenak's first ever start was OK. He will provide serviceable depth at the very least next year.

Jake settled down and was actually very good in the 2nd half.
I have no idea why Chief didn't seem to have an answer for Jackson's misdirections. That was embarrassing.
Josh, Tra, and Kirk, in that order, were fantastic. Unfortunately that wasn't enough. Our OL, if nobody noticed, is horrible. Damn near every running play I saw 3 or more of the 5 standing around. I'm not sure that Christensen isn't worse than Spavital. They both need to go, sez me.

Moore reacted every time the tight ends moved. He assumed the run was going that direction.

The defensive scheme wasn't the problem, the problem is Hall and Garrett crashed in EVERY read option play.
For some perspective, nearly 400 of their yards came on read option plays or passes off of read option play action. We defended everything else just fine.

I thought Moore was overly aggressive as well. I can forgive that because he is a fish busting his arse.
I like the raw talent and toughness in him though. Bodes well for the future.

I like Moore as well. He plays fast and the playing time he got this year should really help him improve.

We excel at losing containment. we got to get that fixed at some point.

This is my favorite post of the night.
Also, I'm curious if anyone else found themselves feeling pretty detached from the game, and the ultimate outcome? I'm normally full of nerves, but tonight I felt my inner aggy give way to acceptance. I was surprised by that emotion, and it bummed me out.

I've not gotten any joy watching Aggie Football since 1999.
I've only watched out of some sick sense of obligation.

Normally I am sad when our season is over. This year though, I am just relieved its over.
It feels like I have been waterboarded most Saturdays for about 3 months, but have finally been paroled from an Aggie Guantanomo Bay.

You're telling me. I watched the Alabama and Ole Miss games from Afghanistan.

I'm pretty detached. I like watching football and love the Ags, but I just can't do the deep emotional investment I used to do in my early twenties. I've got my own shite to deal with now
If football is bumming you out, schedule something else. I know, I know you've watched 200 straight games or whatever. But it's bumming you out, so who cares? Go find something else. Just do it. I got scuba certified on a whim this season which ate two Saturdays (both losses) and don't regret it a bit. Instead of watching spav herp derp on the sidelines, I did something fun and productive that will lead to lots entertainment in the future. I'd do it again in a heart beat and in fact, I'll probably spend several Saturdays next season doing other things.
Don't worry though. I'll watch enough first quarters to check in here and complain about the coaching despite almost no knowledge haha

you say this but were all still here posting...i think, most of our fanbase, feigns detachment to cover up the horrific pain brought about year after year. Even knowing the pain comes we chug however much koolaid is needed to numb the past and push forward hoping one day it will all come together....cause there no way this lasts forever....................right?.............RIGHT!?!?

Hah my pain is no longer horrific. I enjoy football and I like the Ags so it's a hobby, but I don't do the emotional investment anymore.
shite could come together. We were agonizingly close in 2012. But we're reducing our odds by giving coaches contracts with idiotic buyout provisions like we did with Sumlin (it would be financially idiotic to fire him right now). I can't remember if we bit the bullet or what with Sherman, but that's what you have to do. Give him a reasonable amount of time to show what he's got and if something's missing, move on.
Sumlin's gotten a reasonable amount of time to show what he can do and it doesn't look like winning a title is on that list. Moving on would be the sensible thing. Instead, he's going to get 2 more years because his contract is so damn one sided.
