He's not reinstated, he just hasn't left campus and will be enrolled next semester.

He's still in school. When is he scheduled to graduate? Or is he?

I didn't see that he's been reinstated to the team, just that he's still enrolled as a student. Is his scholarship for the calendar year? As I recall, he's suspended indefinitely, not dismissed, so his scholarship would still be active for the spring semester, right?

I'll be shocked if he's back on the team.

Wow. That is shocking. No announcement from the AD though? Hmm...

Not shocked. New staff. New impressions.

Considering we only have rumors to go off of, i'm not surprised at all, given the situation.

I can't believe in an off-season of purge they would allow El Chapo back to possibly frick it up again.

Hopefully they add a JUCO or transfer to fill any short-term void.

El Chapo? The kid had a fun drunken scooter ride, smoked weed, and got into a VERBAL argument at a bar.

If he were any other student on campus, those are normal days in the life. Sure, he's not normal, but don't act like the kid beat a woman or anything like that.

I'd be very pleased if Maty came back to show people that he won't be defined by last season.

He kind of is but not all the way. He has to go through a step process with the staff before full reinstatement. If all goes well he will be on the depth chart for spring practice and allowed to compete for his position. He's been hanging out around the team also. No specifics.

I'll say that I still like Mauk. He's a gunslinger. Just my kind of QB. He's unpredictable and has a hell of an arm. He just needs to get his head straight. I could see him regaining his starting spot, provided he does what he needs to do right now. With Heupel as QB coach, we may not have seen the best out of Mauk. Who really knows? Just a guess on my part.

I have heard the narrative Mauk has a "strong arm" and a "gunslinger". Honestly when has he shown these characteristics of a strong arm that can navigate passes into tight windows? When has he shown he can throw a consistently catchable ball?

Mauk is a MAC/AAC QB at a SEC program. I have never heard other coaches in our league publicly state how Mauk makes them nervous through the air. The narrative has been he can extend plays that he will normally complete at a very low percentage.

With Lock, the ability to beat a defense with his arm has been put on film and coaches notice it. He may have not met our expectations from a W/L perspective but his development is what our program needs to win moving forward. Especially if we are speaking championships.

The Heupel/Lock combo will lead to positive results with time.

This. He could have maybe been a Div. III All-American? I just don't think MM can see the field. Or maybe it's reading the coverages? His only true strength is his wheels.

Decision making, either on and off the field...terrible.

I wish MM the best, but I'm done with him.

Oh. So the rumors of MM using and dealing coca-cola were wrong?

One thing that he was good at was making something happen with his feet, but when he threw the ball I closed my eyes. My major problem with him if this was true(I saw it in writing I think on PM)is that somebody asked him to go see the qb guru who helps college qbs work on their mechanics and he said was supposed to had said that he didn't need to go. James Franklin went to see this guru in Cali right before his senior season. Dudes mechanics are a mess and he needs to at least go see the wizard.(not Ozzie Smith)

QB guru and Mauk - Mauk's brother (ex-college QB) is his "official guru". He was asked this question by the media and he was offended. It's a family deal with Maty and he will never consider anyone else.

Another reason I'm done with MM.

They were 100% accurate. He's teammates did him a solid and let the coaches handle him but the message was he's a cancer to the team. He lost the locker room by his conduct. He has been living off his HS rep and Hasn't put in the work. He is a character off Blue Mountain State. The dude is a cancer.
