For what it's worth, and that it's second hand info, Chris Wilson was seen meeting with the big "O"dom last night. Just passing it along.

Was he retained as DL coach at USC? If so I'd be surprised if he's interviewing for a lateral move as DL coach here unless he and Odom have a history or he's just wanting to get back to the Midwest. Otherwise could he be in the DC mix?

I'd be a little surprised that we're interviewing anyone as a DL coach without a DC in place, though I guess it's possible.

Seems like he would be DC with a heavy hand by Odom on play calling.

That's why the title was vague. He's still a DL coach. Just wanted to pass the info along. I could see it as a DC hire. That makes sense. Count in Josh and you would have your two coordinators and an announcement after bowl season is over maybe?

Wilson has a really good rep here in SOCAL the short time he's been here.
Hopefully we can land him. We need some new blood in recruiting game.

I don't have a problem with Odom calling and planning the defense. But don't take the title as DC because that's 1 less recruiter. Bring in a SEC recruiter and give him the title of DC. Someone like Randy Shannon who has monster connections in Florida, or Jackie Shipp who is a good recruiter.

Seems like he may have Wilson as DC/DLine, Walters covering the Defensive Backfield and Odom looking over the LBs himself.

He will hire another defensive assistant. Coaches can hire 9 assistants. Probably 5 will coach offense and 4 on defense.
1 assistant looks like will be in charge of special teams.

Gabe also seems to think he will be a DL coach. For what it's worth. But I guess it's possible. I also read somewhere on PM that Odom will most definitely stay in control of the defense. So there is that. I think he still needs a DC regardless. Who that is I have no idea, there are names out there.
