That's the leftover Alden speaking in your mind. Alden is gone. Mack will hire someone good.

I get the angst about the OC and there are reasons to be upset. But if you can’t score on three plays from inside the one it’s not the calls.

I totally agree with Gabe on this one.

I can't recall with game? Same situation. Mizzou got the ball early in the game off a turnover. It's a first-and-goal, like three yards max. Lock was under center and dropped the snap on one of the downs. It was early so Mizzou settled for a field goal on 4th. Pitiful.

yes and no.

The offensive line is terrible, but the playcalling this season has been compeltely unimaginative

The only play call all season that I thought was a great call was on the 2 point conversion

Yea, I was thinking, why the frick didn't you run that the other 20 times we've been on the 2 yard line this season and couldn't score?

The play call on first and goal was really good. Lock just threw it to the wrong guy. Leftwich was wide open on a crossing route in the back of the end zone.

All of this was cancelled out by the terrible screen calls, the awful behind the line of scrimmage passes, the ridiculous up the middle runs with Witter, etc.

I get what Gabe is saying, but the play calling has been confounding all season. How about when we decided to throw 3 deep balls in a row after the long completion to Leftwich?

Honestly, the play calling has reminded me of a 13 year old kid playing madden.

and how long will it take a new HC to dig out of it?

The melt (especially by the anti-SJW faction) is roaring like a funeral pyre over on the TB.

By any objective standard the OL is a two year rebuild, at minimum.

What else? Do you see us getting our teeth kicked in for the next year or two or even longer?

We were terrible in 2012 and everybody thought we would suck in 2013. We have plenty of talent and its very young

I can't get over how many pass plays are designed for negative yards unless someone makes a play.

I get the feeling that they're playing not to get Lock hurt now.

Here is my theory...

Pinkel thinks of himself as a coaching mentor. He's very proud of keeping his guys around and seems blind to their shortcomings.

He thought he was going to influence the next HC hire, like Bowden or Osbourne. And that would lead to his loyal coaches being retained.

The AD will have none of that shite, and now it looks like several of Pinkels protégés will get kicked to the curb...so much for coaching legacy.

Pinkels not happy, coaches follow his lead (as they always do) and the whole friggin system is a joke. No one is acting professional, they are just counting days.

Just my theory. Its the only way I can explain the total lack of progress, ingenuity or game plan.

Funny. I was thinking the exact same thing when Pinkel threw in the towel with 6 minutes to go. He didn't want to see another Beckner situation late in the game. They were crushing people to the turf again and again.

And my god, the physical disparity between the Vols and the Tigers was glaring. We literally looked like high schooler's out there by comparison. Arkansas will probably be a repeat situation too.

Honestly, I'd love to see us keep the defensive staff and philosophy intact, recruit and develop a B1G style OLine of nasty maulers, let Lock and the receivers develop and see what happens.

Arkansas' defense is a complete dumpster fire. If Mizzou can contain their offense there's a good chance we can make it another 4th quarter game.

But we could have also lost the Ark St, BYU, and UCONN games and be 2-9 right now as well. If we don't get a good hire we aren't going bowling for a few years. It is going to be hard for a new coach after the recent events as schools are going to use that against us.

I agree with this assessment. Considering that Mizzou had the worst offense in FBS and yet still could have beat Kentucky, UGA, and Vanderbilt tells me next year we should be able to go bowling. We win those three games we are 8-3, it's pretty amazing how we lost games this year.

I don't think the protest will really hurt in recruiting. Kids will know that the AD is behind them. It's also a SEC job. That resonates with both high school kids and possible HC & assistants.

I hope you are right but there were tons of our own alums and fans saying they wouldn't let their kids go to Mizzou and they all have ties to the school. I know it was a lot of anger at the time but I still think some parents will be reluctant to let their kids go to MU.

Some might. Some it might no affect at all.

Who knows, but if Ole Miss can recruit black kids I suspect we'll get a few as well.

These people are cowards and pathetic. A little bit of civil strife and you turn your back on your University? Reason that Mizzou is Mizzou and it's because over the years the fans have not supported the team in the good times and the bad.
