Completely disagree. Odom is a college guy, not an NFL guy. He knows how to recruit, he knows how to coach. This isn't the same scenario at all.

Herman or Patterson but Larry Fedora is a name that is heating up according to some people I know.

I'd be a bit leery of Fedora. He had one great season at Southern Miss, then the program completely collapsed after he left, ending their string of something like 17 straight bowl games.

He is having a good year at UNC right now but he's been fairly mediocre there for the most part. He might do much better at Mizzou, you never can tell, but nothing I've seen from his career screams that he is the one for Mizzou football.

If he does have success at Missouri there is also the danger that he will bolt at the first opportunity for another job opening. That has been his MO in his career.

Fedora would be a huge disappointment to me.

Petrino intrigues me. Yes, he has been a scum and liar. But did he learn his lesson(s) or is he just fatally flawed? I don't know. I do know he can flat coach ball. If I knew he would not be a scum or liar, I could go for him. Any AD has to have him on a very short leash and watch him like a hawk. Rhoades might not want to go there with the baggage he brings.

But he can really coach.

He's a white male so I'm going with fatally flawed.

With Petrino you will have a first rate offense and you will win a lot of shoot outs. He despises recruiting defensive players however, and doesn't spend time in practice developing the defense. There is also the risk of a bimbo eruption at any point.

Petrino can win, and possibly win big, at Mizzou but he comes with some real trade offs.

He really took that "white privilege" stuff to heart. So, with all the white privilege at Mizzou he could lead it and fit right in.

Petrino isn't coming here. We aren't talking to him. I don't want him. I'm not sure there's anyone in an administration position who wouldn't laugh at the suggestion.

Agree, no Petrino.

I think Campbell is an interesting name, Calhoun not so much.

Calhoun has done wonders with Air Force. He can't be too bad of a recruiter if he can sell a 4-6 year military commitment to kids after their college career is over.

Please, please, please do not hire Odom. DC first HC jobs in power 5 conferences don't go well. Let Odom go get some experience first and develop a "process."

If you want to go with a defensive coach at least go Odgeron so recruiting takes off. Maybe he learned some things since his Ole Miss days.

To me, just looking at experience, Babers seems to be the only candidate with a real history of HC winning. Like Saban says, "its the process that wins," it seems like Babers has a process.
