I have to have a fan making some noise. Not sure why.

I sleep in total silence.
Anything that disrupts that gets a karate chop to the neck.

Love going camping away from phones, iPads, tv. I get my best sleep and always go to sleep earlier than usual. Other than possible breeze and some chirping it is silent.
However, at home? I like my fan on.

I sleep normally in anything. But having a fan or complete silence helps me sleep faster.

No way. Have to have a fan on. Actually, 3 fans but I like it to be cold and noisy so I can sleep.

Sleep with the TV on most nights.
I can sleep in complete silence but I sleep best with the sound of rain or a fan.
When I was little I needed the vacuum cleaner to be running to go to sleep

Total silence is my sleep friend.
My girlfriend bought a wine refrigerator over the weekend and plugged it in at my house. I woke up on Sunday night because I could hear the slight sound of the compressor 3 rooms away and didn't know at first what it was.
That being said, I live between 2 sets of train tracks, and trains don't wake me up because I guess I'm used to it.

It depends. Sometimes, I need the tv on or pandora.
Other times, I need silence.
I do listen to rain on a tin roof about 3 or 4 times a year. Very relaxing.

I can but usually I have a tv or radio on for background noise. It's gotten better these past few years but in total silence my brain kicks into overdrive and I can't slow it down enough to fall asleep.

I can basically sleep in any condition once I am tired, or drunk
But I typically have quiet. And prefer it that way

I used to be able to, but the wife has to have a fan on and after 15 years of sleeping with her, I have to have a fan now. I can fall asleep without it, but random noises will wake me up.

Yes, but I always have a fan on because I like the circulation of air.

When my daughter was a baby, she was colicky and I'd run the vacuum and she'd sleep like a champ. Turn it off, she'd wake up screaming, turn it on and she'd be out in a matter of seconds. Evidently that's pretty common.
As for me...I have got to have a fan running to sleep. When we had that ice storm here a couple of winters ago and it knocked the electricity out for almost a week it was pure hell. All I could hear were trees cracking and breaking then falling from the ice build up...I basically didn't sleep until the electricity was back on and my fan was running.

I sleep best with the sound of a thunderstorm. I downloaded a 10-hour MP3 that's exactly what I love.

Same here. I also have to have as little light as possible.
