In other news, Trayvon Reed is back doing individual workouts and going to class. He won't play this year though.

Maybe they'll put him on the 25,000 calorie a day meal plan

Ya, of course our 7 player team is as shitty as the Barbee teams.

The team at the beginning of the year is the best since the Lebo years. If Purifoy is half the hype this would be best team since Marquise Daniels played.

That isn't saying we are great, just how shitty a program Bruce is trying to wrestle from the gutter

Anybody who thinks LSU is a one-trick pony with Simmons isn't paying attention.

Go watch a replay of last night's Ole Miss game if you still don't understand.

We need him, and he really needs to take this gig seriously. I got the feeling he would be coming back (although not playing) based on some recent instagram posts. I wish he'd quite acting like a thug though.

I'm not arguing there is no hope for the future but we are behind schedule.

There is not a single person on this board who thought when Pearl was hired we would be just as terrible two years in as we ever were under our two previous coaches that we all couldn't stand.

I know you guys aren't that dumb, so it's obviously just denial. It's ok to give an honest assessment of where we stand. We suck. Bad. As bad as ever.

Do you just choose to ignore nuance (aka anything except W/L), or you can seriously just not understand it (at least when it comes to basketball)?

OK so what do you propose we do? Bitch and moan and be miserable like you've done?

Or look at everything that's happened to justify why we're here and go forward. Pearl himself said due to injury and eligibility issues we're back to square one so I don't know what your end game is here.

If it's that it's unacceptable in your mind then so be it but it's pretty clear everyone is at peace with the program in Pearl's hands despite our current circumstances

I mean this is an Auburn sports board and an Auburn basketball thread, if this isn't the place to talk about Auburn basketball then where is? Sometimes it's a place to vent justified frustration when things are bad.

You checked out any of our football threads the last 5 months? I didn't realize this was a place where you come to make excuses or stick your head in the sand.

Also, it's Pearl's job to foresee eligibility issues and avoid them or have plans in place should they arise.

We were ok without Purifoy, not great, but decent. We're not very good without Purifoy, Dunans, and TSD. It's year 2 coming off of basically self imposed probation. It's frustrating for sure, but it's understandable. I could see the bitching and moaning in year 4, but we're not there yet.

I hate the way some of the team is reacting right now to a tough situation, but a lot of them will be gone or struggling to fit into the rotation next year, and I'm sure Pearl has a solid graduate transfer big or two in the works until Wiley gets here. Who knows what will happen with Reed, but even finally with some depth all around, they'll be really undersized again in the paint next season minus Spencer. Wish Harris had another year, but I hope we can bring in two rentals inside. At least we'll have a roster mostly full of guys that can create offense/turnovers and move without the ball.

The problem comes in the manner in which you talk about Auburn hoops. You've given no indication that you actually watch the games and you've proven you refuse to look past anything other than the W/L record.

Ahh but it is the place to bitch and moan. Got it. Forget having a level-headed conversation

I wasn't aware he didn't have a plan in place. But since you're right and we're all wrong please enlighten us.

I would like to think that Reeds time away from school motivated him to work hard and straighten up but part of me would still be surprised if he's on the team next year.

And to the "he needs the 25000 calorie diet" post. Reed has a pretty good frame for a 7'1 guy. His biggest issue is aggression (or lack there of). If it does ever click for him he could be a force.

Of course we are, but that's what happens when 50% of your scholarship players have missed multiple games

If you get in a car accident on the way to the airport, you should expect to miss your flight and wait for the next one

We had backup plans and looked good until our backups got injured.

It sucks and maybe it is just Auburn basketball, but not even coach K could be successful with our issues

Reed is athletic and has gained a good bit of muscle from his beanpole start.

Kid is just dumb as frick. I saw him ask Golden what to do every possession last year

Yeah he's listed in his bio at 230. Shouldn't be too hard for a guy his size to put on another 20 pounds which would be nearly ideal.

He looked very awkward last year. Reminded me of my friends year old Great Dane who wasn't used to how big he had gotten yet. His weight and control of his body will continue to get better, and with his athleticism he has loads of potential.

Trayvon Reed is back but redshirting this year. Does that mean he is practicing with the team?

What was your expectation record wise for this season? Before all the injuries?

He is not practicing with the team. He is with the program but is doing individual workouts and training.

It's still unknown if he qualifies for a redshirt since he was out of school for a semester. It may depend on how he performs academically this semester.

Just doing endless post and Mikan drills would be as good as team training.

He can always spend the summer/fall practicing with the team
