Isaiah Wynn at left tackle...hmmm....

Isaiah is a really athletic lineman. Destined for All SEC as a guard, IMO. But seriously...a pro style offense at this level should not be in the predicament that our best candidate to play left tackle is a guy who's about 6-1.
Why does a program in a region so deep in football talent and pulling highly ranked recruiting classes every year not have an agile, quick-footed guy about 6-7, with a huge wingspan, starting at LT?
For that matter, the fact that Theus is moving to right tackle to replace the ineffectual Kolton Houston says something about both Theus and Houston.
How does this program wind up with these deficiencies? Has someone been asleep at the wheel?

I don't follow recruiting like some of y'all but I have always been under the impression that Georgia doesn't produce a lot of offensive linemen. Skill players on both sides of the ball but not the sae numbers in the trenches. I know it seems like our Oline is usually smaller than most in the SEC and always have been.

Do we ever make a push for linemen outside the region - like the Midwest? The schools up there recruit the South heavily for skill position players ; seems like we could do the same for linemen? Looks like we could use the climate, SEC, etc to our advantage and draw some in.
(And yes, I know Pyke is from MD)

Good news...we have a few 6'5" 300+lb OL on the way and in the wings.
Sam Madden 6'7"
Ben Cleveland 6'7"
Mirko Jurkovic 6'5"
Sage Hardin 6'6"
Commit-Chris Barnes 6'5"
Possible-Willie Allen 6'7"

I don't know if you have veer spent any time in the midwest but you bring a big ol' 6' 4" 300 pound pimply faced 17 year old from anywhere in the midwest to Athens in late April and drive down Milledge Avenue and the Girls of UGA will do all of the recruiting needed...the fricker will pay to play football at UGA. I aint saying the women in the midwest are ugly but my god the women in the midwest are ugly....

Don't forget we assumed we had Tunsil until he did the major flip to OM right before signing day.

Coach Mark Richt.
Any other questions?

True...though that has been unusual for UGA.
Seems like we've done fairly well with the guards and centers, but we rarely seem to get the kind of dominating tackles we need. I guess Theus was expected to be all that coming out of high school, but he hasn't lived up to the billing. A few other guys over the years were fairly highly touted but turned out to be complete busts: Brent Benedict, Zach Debell, AJ Harmon, to name a few.
Cordy Glenn might have been the last one who actually turned out to live up to the billing as a tackle. Trinton Sturdivant looked like he was going to be really good, too - unfortunately those knee injuries did him in.
Willie Allen would be a major get as a bookend with Ben Cleveland. These are the types we need to be bringing in every year.

The funny thing is it really wouldn't be surprising if this and the next few classes really tanked because of the way our so-called stupid arse fans react. Who could blame them? These "fans" are much worse than Auburns have ever been...kind of like children, maybe. Maybe some recruits will come out and actually say that. Would be almost justifying. That said, I bet we lose more than a few.

First this guy wants UGA to lose games to teach the fans, or "fans". Now he thinks it's justified for recruits to not come to Georgia...
...smells like an alter...

Just so dumb.

Because there aren't very many people in the world that fit that description. Most that do play basketball.

Wynn is probably our best OL so its worth a shot I guess.

But there are enough that other programs do get them...
I said 6-7 but plenty of NFL left tackles are 6-5 or 6-6. I'm not sure I've ever heard of one who was 6-1 or 6-2. I bet very few "Power 5" college teams have tackles that short, either. We seem to have a problem consistently bringing in true tackles.
Then again...this problem is currently overshadowed by our apparent lack of a quarterback.

Not really. I can think of 2 in the SEC right now (Tunsil, Robinson). Martez Ivey has a chance to make 3 at UF. All the guys that are like that get picked in the top 10 of the draft. They get picked that high because there are so few of them.
Teams have people that big, but the combo of big, agile, long is rare. Theus was supposed to be that, but he isn't getting it done.

I'll grant you that.
