What city around Tuscaloosa would be ideal for hotel for the Lsu v Bama game. All hotels in Tuscaloosa are obviously full

Meridian, MS, or Birmingham.
Depends on your definition of ideal, though.

if you have a group look into VRBO/AirBNB. Did that for Ole MIss game and it worked out perfectly.
if you are coming from Louisiana I would almost say Meridian. 90 miles away.
There is literally a dead zone between Tuscaloosa and Meridian. Almost nothing there.
Another option if they don't have a game that weekend is Starkville Ms. that is only 90 miles the road.
Montgomery is further away but if you and group play golf you hit up one of the fes RTJ courses near there. Yall can get a round in on Friday and then head up casually on Saturday.

Well somewhere between between baton rouge and Tuscaloosa obviously. Anything like an 1hr or 1.5hr away. How far away is Birmingham

Bham is an hour past Tuscaloosa coming from BR. Meridian is about 1 1/2 hours before you get to Tuscaloosa coming from BR. Meridian would be your best bet, but it's kind of a shithole with nothing to do at night. Unless dinner at Chili's is your thing.

Eat at Weidmann's in Meridian. It's as good as anywhere else you could imagine.
Mugshots is an awesome burger restaurant.
Nick and Al's is one of the better "fast foodish Italian" places I've been. Really good food if you aren't looking for a white tablecloth.
Don't be cheap, and stay off I20/59 off the bonita lake exit. Those are the newer hotels. Some of the others in town advertize as renovated, but are in shitty areas.
Meridian is a shithole, but it's no drive from there to Tuscaloosa.

Oh man I'm all about that chili's haha. Actually that's a great idea about Starkville. I have close buddies that go to school there. You just saved me about 300 bucks haha.
Any suggestions about what to see or do up there. First timer here. All of us are 23-25years old.

In Meridian, Starkville, or Tuscaloosa?

There are some good hotels on the South side of Birmingham (on US-280). Right by a lot of good restaurants and shopping. I've stayed in the Hilton Perimeter Park for a Bama game before and thought it was great. Not a bad drive to Tuscaloosa either

Tuscaloosa. And forgot to mention, no, we don't drink (anymore at least ha) so I know that eliminates half my options.
I heard Philadelphia has a nice casino hotel?

Meridian (from BR)
3.5 hours to Meridian
1.5 hours to Tuscaloosa
1.5 hours to Meridian
3.5 hours to BR
10 total hours
Birmingham
6 hours to Bham
1 hour to Tuscaloosa
1 hour to Bham
6 hours to BR.
14 total hours.
Also these numbers are going to be off because depending on when you leave Tuscaloosa it could take you 3 hours to get back to Birmingham with traffic/construction.
ETA: For those reasons alone I'd choose Meridian. Birmingham would be a more "fun" place to stay but I see no reason to drive that extra time if you're just looking for a close place to sleep.
May want to look into gameday condo rentals (AirBNB and other options) in Tuscaloosa too. Seems to be a pretty underutilized way to get a good deal on a nice place to stay in town. Especially with the current state of the multihousing market in Tuscaloosa, there are a lot of empty condos people are trying to rent for gamedays. May be booked up since it is LSU but I'd at least check.

If you stay in Starkville, go eat at Anthony's in West Point.

I'd never consider going east of Tuscaloosa, especially coming in from the west. Traffic up I 59 back to Birmingham after an Alabama game this year is especially horrible. There is road construction that way that you just don't need to get yourself involved with. Seriously, you could make it back to Laurel, MS before you make it to Birmingham after the game.
