Syracuse's sanctions were in part for not following protocol with student drug testing.

As were Baylor's.

As was Miami's in the 90s.

why do people keep bringing this up? teams vacate wins because of a player being ineligible, not because they failed a drug test. grier is not ineligible, he's been suspended. huge difference. it doesn't even matter if florida knew he was taking steroids, honestly

absolutely, but I'm not surprised most don't know this cause you have to actually be a football fan to know the rules of the sport, most ppl are just fans of their particular teams and just like to troll other fan bases, but it makes you fall flat on your face when you troll but have no idea what you're talking about cause you don't know the rules.

when has one player testing positive for a banned substance ever resulted in a school even getting put on probation?

Never. But if they knew he was juicing and covered it up, it's a completely different ballgame.

Obviously, it's extremely unlikely that something like that would be proven. And even if it was, it would take years for the wins to be vacated.

ETA: Vacated wins also assumes that that's the punishment the NCAA decided to impose, which is also extremely unlikely.

It baffles me that so many among us don't understand how "vacating" works.

And I'm sure they'll go on to voice their opinions in other sports matters as if they're an expert.

I said one player. Those teams were cited, in part, for habitual behavior that extended throughout multiple players over the course of several years. and that was one small part of why those teams were put on probation. again, one player failing a drug test is being blown way out of proportion. it's because he was the starting QB, plain and simple. and the only teams complaining are teams that want a free win, something that has zero chance of ever happening.

pretty sure if evidence popped up showing FL knew about his test results BEFORE the last game he played, the SEC office could step in and bar them from a trip to ATL, when and what games are later "vacated" would be another matter pending the full NCAA investigation.

Come on. Grier is not an ineligible player. Failing a drug test has nothing to do with playing an ineligible player. That is the only case where wins are forfeited. You only become an ineligible player if you take benefits from an agent, as an example, and lose amateur status.

It's fun to talk about though. I think the other fanbases are tired of Georgia and Florida winning the East every year and would like to see the other teams represented. If it weren't Florida and not the QB, I doubt anyone would care.

I don't want a free win. Our team didn't deserve one from that game.

I would guess those lack of institutional control charges started from one incident that was investigated and other things uncovered. And of course, that would take years and wouldn't effect standings this year.

do you realize the lawsuits that would be filed by other sec schools if the SEC stepped in and awarded wins to Missouri, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Tennessee and another school got jumped for the SECCG? Y'all lost. Get over it. It's done. The only remotely possible thing that happens (and that chance is extremely thin), is Florida vacates, not forfeits, those games years down the road. Again, your proposition has zero chance of happening

then win more games

ETA: Missouri has won the East the past two years and USC won it in 2010. The east has had 4 different schools win the division the past 5 seasons. Tennessee has been to the SECCG 5 times.

the East is just a fukked up disgrace and mess, and it's really UGA's fault.

It really is. We have three of the Big 6 in this division and all of them have been shitting the bed for a long time.

Tennessee can't find a coach, Florida is into drugs and Georgia won't quit that teaser, Mark Richt. Mizzou is tired of repping the East as the new guys in Atlanta and South Carolina is busy moving their oldster to the nursing home.

That leaves Kentucky and Vandy. The Commodores are back to normal and UK has just come out of their latest coma.

This may be the biggest shitfest in the East since we began divisional play in the SEC.

It seems like the Gators got a substantial unfair advantage here. If these wins are vacated then Kentucky is 3-0 and could take a major step toward an East championship with a home win over the Aubbies.
