I know he has had some stiff LSU and Alabama teams, but this rushing defense looks to be a little better. Sure, Georgia racked up close to 200 yards rushing and Chubb had around 160 yards, but he did rip off an 83 yarder in the 3rd quarter. That said, just like LF7, those yards surely do still count.

I believe the Alabama defense had held every other opponent to under 100 yards rushing. It'll be really interesting to see what happens when LF7 and Ethan Pocic comes into town.

Do you believe this is Saban's best rushing defense ever?

I think it's right there with 2011. This is his deepest and most talented defensive line. While we have a good LB corps the group in '11 was better with Mosley and Hightower, and we had bigger downhill safeties were this group is more of the rangy ball hawking type of safeties

It has to be one of his best. His front 7 are deep and Reggie is probably the best run stopping LB in college football. His 2 deep guys being so good is what kills you.

Their front 7 is just incredible against the run. We're going to have to spread them out, get them in dime, and try to run against a couple of extra DBs.

At Bama I assume. '09 with Erik Anders, Upshaw and Hightower with Mt Cody pushing the middle.

Sorry, read pass rush instead of rush. Yes it is.

5 TOs, against a passing team. The 2011 defense was better, but the 2011 front 7 was not better against the run.

It's up there, top 2 I would say. You could make a case for the 2011 bomb squad of course. I've been saying it all year, any team with big ideas about running the ball on Bama this year needs to get their frickin brain checked for deficiencies. Not happening.

Ole Miss only drove any distance twice. One on a missed downfield lineman call and one on a bounce off the helmet play.

This is the best DL in recent memory.

2011 was much better I think. This D line is a little bit better, but the linebackers and secondary is a little bit worse against the run imo

Reading, the Ole Miss fan's natural enemy.

I believe Alabama held Ole Miss to under 50 yards rushing too.

Georgia ran for 200, and LSU ran for 180 last year with a worse team... Like I get that you're confident but stats don't back up your claim at all lol.

This year's rush defense looks incredible, but the best still has to be 2011 thus far.

Rushing defense by game (2011):

Attempts/Yards/Average/TDs:

Game 1: 23 / -9 / -0.39 / 0
Game 2: 30 / 107 / 3.57 / 1
Game 3: 32 / 68 / 2.13 / 0
Game 4: 19 / 17 / 0.89 / 0
Game 5: 29 / 15 / 0.52 / 0
Game 6: 19 / 41 / 2.16 / 0
Game 7: 31 / 28 / 0.90 / 1
Game 8: 32 / 92 / 2.88 / 0
Game 9: 41 / 148 / 3.61 / 0
Game 10: 29 / 12 / 0.41 / 0
Game 11:**39 / 302 / 7.74 / 1 (game against FCS Georgia Southern, Alabama rested many starters on defense and they ran like crazy)
Game 12: 35 / 78 / 2.23 / 0
Game 13: 27 / 39 / 1.44 / 0

Totals for the year:
386 attempts, 938 yards, 2.43/attempt, 3 TDs (72.15 yards/game)

Totals taking out the Georgia Southern anomoly:
347 attempts, 636 yards, 1.83/attempt, 2 TDs (53 yards/game)

NOBODY except an FCS team ran on Alabama that year and it was virtually impossible to run the ball into the end zone against that team.

Bama'a front 7 scares the shite out of me as an LSU fan. Harris is going to need to work some magic.

This team looks almost as good as 2011 at stopping the run.

That is really damn impressive.

I do not think any team is going to run on Alabama with any kind of consistency.

It's there. I still need to see more to put it with '11 or even '09 but I can't imagine this team being run on with any great success. Still the best rush defense I ever saw was our 92 team. I think we gave up 2 rushing TD's for the year or something crazy and one team got over 100 yds rushing the entire season and opponents averaged 55 yds a game rushing. LaTech was held to .03 yards per play.
