Not here to bitch, but WTF? The lineman down the field has everything to do with the play. That is how the corner reads if it is a pass or run play and knows whether to abandon the receiver and go after the QB.

Why aren't people on here also complaining about the illegal forward touching on the on-side kick? I mean that had a huge impact on the game and was clearly illegal.

A. This type of pass happened in 2 SEC games this week and

B. Start a thread about the onside kick. You have that power.

Its funny, last year I didn't see this many Bama fans crying about the missed facemask call that gave them 7 points before the half. Every person in the stadium saw that facemask except the guys that count. Including one was was standing 5 feet from the play when it happened.

Weird how that works isn't it?

You won't see a thread on the illegal onside kick either.

Bama got fricking owned and was lucky to even be close.

As an LSU fan I cannot say anything about shitty calls that go Bama's way or I will be labeled as a cliche.

Batting the ball on an onsides kick is illegal, and that was clearly done by the 'Bama 'good hands' team. And they got a TD out of it. So, it evened things out. Pop pass= Ole Miss TD; Batting the ball='Bama TD. Take those two away, and Ole Miss still wins the game.

It was clear as day the guy batted the ball forward. Those same Bama fans aren't calling for a review of that play though lol

That was probably the best onside kick I have ever seen. It was placed as bout as well as you could ask.

Why don't you guys start a thread about it?

Put in a gif if possible and we can improve the discourse on this board.

Apparently. And Ole Miss fans bitch and moan about me trolling them on here, they bring this shite on themselves.

This. It's a rule. It should be called and reviewable.

Wait...you are saying we should video review every play for rules infractions? Like holding and offsides and all that?

It's nonsense. They just won't admit it to themselves, yet.

It's perfectly legitimate to say the call was missed. It's a big leap to say it should be reviewable.

I don't think anybody is arguing that that is not the rule. The argument is whether the college rule would make more sense if it were the same as the NFL rule. i.e. where the ball is when it is released. I don't even know if the Auburn or Ole Miss passes would have been okay under the NFL rule.

Are you serious? If the DBs see the QB running towards the line of scrimmage, and a lineman running downfield to make a block, they're supposed to break coverage and make a play. Do you even, football, brah?

With you on this up until Brah. Can we all agree to stop trying to say this on the computer? It just looks ridiculous.

Pretty sure the ball was behind the LOS when Kelly released it. But I could be wrong.

I just think there needs to be another official to focus on that area of the action because the penalty never gets called on anyone. I'll probably just wait to discuss this later in the year or in the offseason because as someone said, you aren't allowed to talk football around here

No one said it was illegal. Sheesh.

It is a rule that should be looked at though. It doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense - and has to be hell on defensive coaches, regardless of who you coach for.

Only "spot of" type fouls and targeting should be reviewable.

Bama can take away the 7 points we got on that play and we will take away the 7 points they got after the onside kick they batted forward. The difference is one violation made an impact on the play and the other didn't. Last year Bama pulled on our player's facemask and returned the ensuing fumble for a touchdown. I must have missed all whiny punks from Tuscaloosa who thought it was sooooooooo important to make facemasks reviewable. Ole Miss beat you twice in a row, get over it.

I am sure there are plenty of LSU and Auburn fans who wish holding was reviewable many of the times they played Bama.

Johnsons big toe was behind the LOS (9 yard line ) and he released the ball from the 7.5.

Kelly CLEARLY released the ball behind the LOS. His body was on the LOS. I can't remember the specific yard lines.
