No, but Dallas offers several indoor locations to spend time including bars, gay bars, eateries, and teeteries.

I personally like neutral site games. Alot of my college friends live in a Dallas and gives us an excuse to all get together, which usually only happens once a year. I can understand why a college student or someone with a family might not like it but for someone in their late 20s with no major responsibilities, i think it's great.

Teams need to think more about where they play neutral site games. Houton for LSU worked great, Green Bay for Wisconsin works too

The Green Bay thing for LSU-Wisconsin is awesome. That's the type of thing that would make me want to travel for a neutral site game. Historical site that you would normally never get to see your team play in. There just aren't a lot of opportunities like that though. Playing someone like Michigan or MSU at Soldier Field would be pretty sweet too

Agreed, but playing in Dallas every year just gets old.

I live in Atlanta. And I chose to go to a University across the state and did very well as a result. Auburn will pack the Dome with no problem. Get over yourselves. If you can't sell out...than admit it. No reason for excuses at this point in the season.

However, money rules everything and the schools make more money by playing in 75% full neutral site stadiums in distant cities.

Here is an article from FORBES magazine LINK

Despite the sport’s continued popularity, college football’s gameday experience has become watered down over the past decade, and fans — particularly students — aren’t going to games as much as they used to. Even powerhouses like Georgia and Alabama have struggled to get students to games. The Wall Street Journal reports that 39 percent of student seats at Georgia went unused between 2009 and 2012, while 32 percent of student seats at Alabama went unused in that same timeframe, when the Crimson Tide won three national titles.

TV and the schools blind grab for money now will kill it all in a decade or 2, but by then, it will be too late.

Neutral site games only work in certain circumstances. Having Alabama and Wisconsin travel to Texas to play a game is stupid. Other than money, it makes no sense.

Mizzou vs kU at Arrowhead worked great because it was a midpoint between two rivals, and the city itself is divided between the 2 fan bases.

Florida vs Georgia in Jacksonville has a similar thing.

It makes perfect sense that Wisconsin fans aren't traveling to the game. I doubt as many Alabama fans would make it to a neutral site game in Minnesota.

So I like neutral site games, but only under certain circumstances.

I know a lot of Bama fans, myself included, that are opting to go to Dallas next year for USC instead of this year for Wisconsin. I would love to avoid the whole state of Texas, but they aren't giving me much of a choice.

Yeah that doesn't have nearly the same appeal. Even playing in Houston isn't appealing to me. I've been to Reliant tons of times. If the Cotton Bowl wasn't a shithole I think it would be cool to play it there, so it's not out in Arlington at sterile as shite JerryWorld, but I dunno. If we are going to do neutral site games I like the one off types, not a series like we have with Arkansas

Neutral site matchups can work just fine, but only if they're close enough the fans can drive and at most spend one night in a hotel. People simply aren't going to spend the same money to travel for a season opener as they will for a bowl game.

I think it has more to do with the matchup honestly. Michigan and Alabama had just as far to go in 2012, but the attendance for that game was over 90,000.

I would add a big circumstance to your point.

Splitting the venues 50/50 with the best tickets going to the schools, donors, and fans.

If something goes to JerryWorld the scalpers and locals get the best seats first and usually neither group gives a rats arse about the teams actually playing. These games should be part of the season ticket package and fan friendly first.

I like them as well, but I don't go to them. I went to the Bama/Clemson game in 08, but haven't been to one since. The Labor Day Saturday has become one of the better college football days for TV viewers because of the neutral site games.

I sure hope it's a trend that CONTINUES ! The proliferation of these OVERPRICED/OVERHYPED/MONEY-GRAB games, are killing the traditional on campus home/home games !

I'm very jealous of LSU fans getting to go to Lambeau nextra year. I'd ultimately rather play a home and away with Wisconsin and experience a gameday in Madison but Lambeau is a bucket list destination. If money wasn't an issue and it didn't conflict with a good Bama game I'd strongly consider going to see LSU/Wisconsin at Lambeau. Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits and then the game would be sweet.

Yep, the cobbled together regular season neutral site games need to die a quick death.

Somebody is taking a haircut on this game because if the game were in Tuscaloosa or Wisconsin, the stadium would be packed, and that is a lot more in tickets and concession sales. Plus there is no cut to jerry Jones.

I am glad the Aggie/UCLA series is home & home. Season ticket holders deserve to see the good OOC games.

Your damn game was only about an hour away from your campus....not even in the same league as what is being talked about with Bama and Wiscy.

Should have done it in like Indianapolis or somewhere more central. Bama fans will travel anywhere.

This is true, but real talk here: Alabama fans have spent a shite load of money on neutral site games the last few years. I think even Alabama fans, who travel well, are getting a little burned out on the neutral site games.

2008:

Neutral site opener in Atlanta
SECCG in Atlanta
BCS Bowl in NO

2009:

Neutral site opener in Atlanta
SECCG in Atlanta
BCSCG in Pasadena

2011:

BCSCG in NO

2012:

Neutral site opener in Arlington
SECCG in Atlanta
BCSCG in Miami

2013:

Neutral site opener in Atlanta
BCS Bowl in NO

2014:

Neutral site opener in Atlanta
SECCG in Atlanta
Playoff in NO

That is a lot of travel time and money for big neutral site games the last few years.

Speaking for most Bama fans who have traveled to these games the last few years, I can say the credit cards are all maxed out and our double wides are mortgaged to the hilt. I'm staying home and watching on an old black and white TV. Had to sell the 65" to pay rent.

Sorry old timer - That does not look like an expensive list at all.

8 of those games were in Atlanta. Cheap trip.

4 other games were for a BCS or playoff spot. Those games you go to no matter the cost.

I think the bammer game is not sold out for a different reason. There is ZERO star power in the game. The rest of the country has no idea about any players on either team. If there was a Tebow or a Cam or a Reggie Bush on either team, it would be a sell out.

This is a boring game that will last about 2 hours with each team running 80% of the time. Boring equals no ticket sales.
