Why? Alabama's been kicking LSU's arse forever (49-25-3). If it ain't Saban, it'll be somebody else.

Like Shula right?

Great coach and I am thankful for his tenure here in that it re-established (and then some) the program. He didn't bolt for Bama, rather he happened to end up there by default. No hard feelings.

My conversations with his former players are they loved the man. It was said that if you were a slacker you hated him....of course.

Not every player likes him and thats normal. One former player said that Saban did make him a better player but about it. He also went on to say that Saban is not a people person. He would walk by the coach and acknowledged him but saban never acknowledged him back. He said it wasnt even worth playing for Saban. But, thats just one player

Alabama and LSU aren't much different in terms of facilities, support, access to talent, ect. Both are the big dogs in their respective neighborhoods. Things like that.

Why don't Florida fans feel the same way about Spurrier? He literally did the exact same thing, only the media didn't pester him about it.

Is this even a serious question?

Florida won 2 NCs after Spurrier failed in the NFL and went to a division rival, and he's won zero NCs at South Carolina and will likely retire without winning one there. Florida fans' feelings on Urban would be the apt comparison, not Spurrier.

frick Saban. Not because he left LSU. But solely because his current success directly affects LSU's success (or lack there of).

I would harbor the same animosity towards Sumlin, Bert, Malzahn, etc. if they were constantly beating LSU and preventing us from winning national titles.

Yeah I'd agree. LSU's contributions/monetary support trumps Alabama.

LSU $49,333,582
Alabama's $32,196,689

Why so many downvotes? This is TRUTH.

was with you until this. You have that story completely backwards. Not being able to get Drew is a huge reason he left the NFL.

A control freak like Saban doesn't want a GM picking his players.

ehh read Drew's book. he wanted to be in Miami. Now whether saban was being influenced idk, but saban didn't think he was recovered from his shoulder injury, the rest his history.

Not a LSU fan but gonna chime in anyway. Saban regrets leaving LSU in a big way. He loved it there but the NFL was an itch he had to scratch. If he had it to do over again he would never leave baton rouge. He likes Tuscaloosa, likes the money and he likes the attention but he loved Baton Rouge.

I think he has grown to love Tuscaloosa as well.. As crazy as that may sound... I don't think he was totally sold on Alabama in the beginning and he has had NUMEROUS chances to leave if he wanted but the more time you spend in one place, the more in grow on you... Tuscaloosa isn't Baton Rogue BUT its a pretty good city and Alabama football IS an ELITE program!! Arguably one of the top 3 of ALL TIME!!! He loves football and he has cat blanche to do whatever he wants to do at Alabama. So I believe that eh finally has found his home and will be there until he retires... I mean could ANYONE here have ever imagined him donning a "Big Al" head, like he did for Lee Corso or giving a Roll Tide when he went to go speak in Big Ten country??

Until he went to Alabama, I liked him. As soon as he went to Alabama, I hated him just like I hate all things Alabama. I don't care what you did before, if you are the head coach at Alabama, I want you to fail at everything you do until you die or retire. I will feel the same way about their next coach, just as I have all their previous ones.

There are some really good posts from Alabama fans on this subject, in this thread, and this is one of them.

Older people understand how you can grow tremendously from an unsuccessful situation. I firmly believe that Saban learned a lot from his 2 years in Miami and became an even greater coach than the one he was at LSU. He was great at LSU, but even greater at Alabama. He would never, in a million years, do the "Big Al" head type of deal or the Little Debbie ESPN commercials at LSU.

Basically, Saban was wonderful for LSU and LSU was wonderful for Saban. But, he has found a great home for himself in Tuscaloosa and has been fantastic. That's the only reason we don't like him, because he's there. And, he's doing a fantastic job. That's all there is to it.

Personally I hate him because the same person who said " you should have to win your conference to play for a National Championship" begged the media to give his team a do-over when they had already lost their conference (and no way in Hell would LSU have gotten a do-over had we lost by 3 points at Tuscaloosa) costing 2011 LSU's status as the GOAT and leaving us all with a very bad taste in our mouth years later. So frick him for that.

Also, Florida had a chance to get him back, but they wanted him to interview, and they insulted him, so he went somewhere else. Thank you Florida.

I just don't understand how a "Grown man" can assign such a powerful emotion to someone who has no direct effect on their real life. It is a game and nothing more.
