When was the last time Muschamp had an elite defense?

Serious question...I would also ask the same of Kirby Smart.
I don't recall his UTx defenses being great. Without looking, I would guess his run D numbers were good, but that was probably a product of pedestrian B12 run offenses. Bama ran crazy on his UTx defense.
Was it at LSU?
Like Smart, is Muschamp living off Saban's momentum?

Their QB went down early in the game, and their backup had a bunch of 3 and outs. It wore out the defense.
This troll thread has too many holes.

Beating UTn doesn't require an elite defense, brah.

That I didn't get to see every game live for our NC season? I agree and thank you for caring.

UF Scoring Defense Rank
2012 - 5th
2013 - 15th
2014 - 11th
AU Scoring Defense Rank
2012 - 66th
2013 - 48th
2014 - 64th
Doesn't really matter what Elite means in your definition. AU just paid a bunch of money to make the AU rank look like the UF rank in scoring defense.

I mean I don't think he really improved the Florida defense dramatically but the 2012 Defense was one of the better units in modern SEC history.
That said given that the DC of that unit is pretty much universally considered to be a better defensive coach than Muschamp (and has the hardware to prove it) I have my doubts if it was all Boom.

Probably last year.
You mean the defense that had the worst game in Florida history in terms of yards allowed?

..and at LSU it was because of saban. At Auburn, it was because of Tub's. At UF it was because of somebody else. Muschamp been riding coattails his entire career. Dude is a genius.

I think muschamp is a good DC, but he definitely benefitted statistically due to the shite show offense. Many teams played very conservative against us because they knew our offense would implode and didn't want to turn the ball over.

This, between our offense eating the clock and limiting possessions and other teams knowing they only needed 14-17 to beat a Muschamp team -his defensive statistic were significantly inflated over the last 4 seasons.
