The 3-peat is real.

He is. He has a big arm, he can run. He has those things, but he makes poor decisions too often and his accuracy is very erratic. I also think he has a hard time seeing the field, and he bails from the pocket too easily.
I will give him a bit of credit though as he made a concerted effort to work on those things and he played better towards the end of the year.

Not really. We just signed a pretty highly touted freshman....but he's a freshman. He's not going to play. The other guys on the roster weren't good enough to get a look when Mauk went through a 3 game stretch where he was completing like 39% of his passes and turning the ball over. So....
Kinda strange how he's panned out. I saw him come in when Franklin went down and he seemed to provide a spark. I thought he'd turn out to be better than Franklin. Nope.

We did not replace WRs last year at all.
I can think of one replaced, #1 recruit in the land, got kicked off the team, ring any bells?

Oh, we lost a ton. DGB, LWash, and more. But we didn't replace them. That was my point. You said we replace them every year. And we didn't last year.

I seriously think Mauk is a talented QB, I think he's a damn headcase. We really got under his skin more than anything.
And he tackled Spurrier. lol Wasn't that him?
no, Spurrier wasn't even knocked off his feet, and Mauk flattened a Minnesota safety in the Citrus bowl, so no, he didnt run the OBC.
Mauk's main problem is he just really hasn't taken his opportunity seriously enough, but that's all changing now, it has to do with his dads health, that's all I'm gonna say.
If Mauk does go down we have some experienced and good backups in Berkstressor and Printz, Berks is a 5th year senior and has a great arm, he's big and tough but slow and not mobile at all. Printz is all around good, good size, good arm, good feet, just good, but yea we aren't done if Mauk gets hurt, not by a long shot. Incoming freshman Lock may be Chase Daniel II, but he won't see the field, just too many experienced guys in front of him, red shirt for him this year.

Russ - great
Steward - has he taken a hit in 12 months?
Abbington - not on campus
Witter - see Russell's SO year
Doherty - FR
Walters - done nothing to get excited about
Russell- check
Steward- he's been out for a year, so no he hasn't played, best combination of power/speed/moves and vision we've recruited in a long time though. Pinkel said he's on schedule to be full speed by opening camp day.
Abbington- finishing one class at JUCO, biggest back to come along in a while, over 6-2 and 220, was all purpose at CC and had a good pass reception rating.
Witter- small speed back, good last year, should be better
Walters- redshirted, coming off injury in spring on schedule to be near full speed at camp opening.
Doherty- very good skill back, should play both TB and slot, and KR. Need to play him before he leaves to sign with the Cardinals.

I don't think so, but I'm an eternal pessimist when it comes to my fave sports teams. If we have a chance, it's our favorable schedule--State and the Pigs cross division, whereas UGA plays Bama and AU (my pick to win the SEC). Not buying the UT hype yet, but I'm afraid Rocky Top will be back with a vengeance in '16 ;-(
UGA def a tougher team than Mizzou this season, but the wife and I are looking forward to watching the UGA-MU game between the hedges this fall.
I'm just not a Maty fan, and our receiving corps has nearly zero experience. Running game should be decent. With prob the best back 7 Mizzou has ever had, and a great "new" (Mizzou alum) DC, I was looking forward to an incredible defense. However, the loss of 2 starters on a D-line already losing Golden and Ray is really gonna hurt. I'm afraid the D-line depth just won't be there. Losing Brantley was a beeatch

I feel ya dog.. I thought about it exactly as you do, then I thought about it some more and I realized, overcoming this type of thing is exactly what we do, when we "Do what we do". Don't worry, all we need is UGA to drop those 2 games and it's in the bag!

I feel better already ;-) Just worried about that D-line holding up by the time November rolls around.
Posted on 7/20/15 at 10:20 pm to higgs_boson
No...I can easily see them losing to UK,MSU,ARKY,UT and of course UGA
Lets not forget USCe.

yea it's gonna be great to pull the East rug out from under you yet again, as you don't see it coming for the third straight time!

As to the OP...who the hell knows. Probably 4 or 5 teams that wouldn't surprise me if they won the east.
Jagd, I agree about our backups. As backups (not comparing them to other starters), I think we are fairly solid. Printz hasn't separated himself but Mauk was also pretty much handed the reins and it was a foregone conclusion. I also think, Berk, as a 3rd string, is capable. It's not fair to compare a #5 starter to a
#1 starter in a pitching rotation.
Unless you're the Cardinals.

yea I left out QB Zanders also, who I would like to see doing some slot duty, with his arm, he'ed be the perfect flea flicker back. I see no way he passes Printz on the depth, so if he wants to see the field, well...
But I'm fairly excited to see what Barry Odom is going to do with the defense, he's going to have plenty of good pieces to move around, theres no question about TBJ, but we'll see what the other new guys like Frazer and Abigasmere can bring. After the number of times I watched Stec blow a 3rd and long with his full house blitz calls, I feel like we're really going to be in for a treat. Nothing against Stec, I really like the guy, a marine with a sense of humor is a great thing to have on the team, but him as a top DC mind.. not so much.
The schedule works out with 3 tuneup type games before we have to open against UK, so it's going to break in our favor again. I'll admit I too was depressed about this season for awhile, but now, I completely "see it". We've got this!

Pinkel has told us they will be 5% better than last year. That's quite a lot of wiggle room, they'll win the east easily this year.
Posted on 7/21/15 at 1:26 am to RocketBallz
Maybe? UGA is the favorite and my early pick.
One of Pinkel's fav statements, "win in November and they'll remember." Mizzou has to hold serve against tenny, wait for UGA to burst into flames...and viola...East champs for a third year in-a-row. IF Mizzou takes care of biz on-the-road in Fayetteville or shall I even say Athens, then UGA is fricked again. Mizzou is a ROAD WARRIOR.
Why/how? The running game (experienced OL & solid RB by committee). We're gonna pound-the-line this year. D-LineZOU with solid LB's and secondary. Favorable schedule. And the cherry-on-top...IF (and big frickin' IF) the passing game matures, y'all better watch-out. We know the way to AtL, just gotta learn to finish the deal once there.

Again??UF did all the heavy lifting for you last year...you didnt pull the rug out from anybody.
UGA could very well have 2 SEC losses (trust me Mizzou won't be one of them)You seem to think that gives you a clear path to Atlanta...nothing could be further from reality. You'll be slighly favored vs UK and USCe and probably pick em or underdogs vs UT,Arky,MSU and of course double digit underdogs vs UGA...who knows what UF brings to the table and they sure as hell won't play as bad as they did last year.
