I'm excited for this year, but Tarp is preaching on #'s that were scaling back the offense big time and trying to conform to the rest of the conference
I try not to make a habit of bashing other people but Tarp's got an obvious axe to grind, he's never liked the offense, and 3 years in, he still hasn't bothered to learn the names of the positions.
If you want to sit around and discuss 90s pro-style offenses and the like, Tarp's your guy. It's not at all surprising to me that he's casting anything as being more like "the rest of the conference" (as if there is one style anyway).
In truth, there are many styles of offense that can work quite effectively. There are some of the best offensive minds in the country in our division alone. Whether it's Malzahn's, Bielema's, Sumlin's style or whomever, there just isn't one true and right offense. And all offenses constantly evolve. Until Tarp opens his mind to that possibility, I wouldn't take much of what he says seriously.

As long as we're not ditching the no-huddle speed aspect, I'm fine with it. And I doubt Sumlin is getting rid of that.

He's been extra curmudgeonly lately. I assumed he was pretty off base but he was so adamant... He's definitely got an anti Sumlin agenda.

Bitch
Well all I can say is thank god true detectctive is here because this whole season of game of thrones was pointless and basically setting the stage for next season.

I don't care as long as we aren't weak in the interior like we were last season.

****SPOILERS****
Pointless?
The church now has an army and they're doing work in the capital.
Danny actually rode a dragon! shite is about to get real.
John became lord commander does work on the wall, does battle with a white walker army, but gets killed in the end. Now the wall is screwed.
Stannis finally fought the battle he's been talking about for a while. Looks like he ended his career 2-2 (wins at dragon stone & north of the wall, losses at blackwater & Wintertfell.)
Arie is now a faceless killing machine.
Some super bad arse shite has happened. Now maybe you can argue the first 7 episodes built up the final 3 where most of the cool shite took place. I'm aout with that.
****SPOILERS OVER*****

I think he's just married to a "run the ball, run the clock, and play good defense" philosophy. I don't think he's ever going to be a fan of an up-tempo, pass-first offense.

Lots of "cool shite" happened, but I wouldn't say much happened to advance the actual plot.
The writers even implied this in noting much of this season sets the stage for next season, particularly relating to the missing stark brothers who were intentionally left out of this season.
These are the only real plot-advancing events in my opinion:
1. Tyrion Lannister's arrival in Mereen to join Daenery's Targaryen
2. Sansa Star's marriage to the bastard of the north
3. John Snow's death
Other than that, it was just a bunch of cool subplots.

I feel for him, to an extent. It has to be extremely aggravating/depressing to put in a ton of time and effort on a kid, watch him go out and exceed expectations, have things looking great, only for him to flame out before your eyes as a mega-drunk who flunks everything, is benched and essentially gets kicked of the team, and then you have to go start a true freshman and go through all those growing pains. It was his Leaving Las Vegas level drinking that spoiled things more than his weak arm. Which is just a "WTF!? type deal"
