I normally just get an old fashioned. Was wondering what else is out there every bartender knows
And on the rocks or neat doesn't appeal to me

Gin and Tonics or Vodka Tonic are nice in the summer. Every bartender knows those. worldwide. Scotch and soda is another one any bartender will know.

My wife always orders a gimlet, and gets royally pissed when they bring her one made with vodka.

Haven't had gin in about 6 years. May have to give it a shot
All I remember from trying it in high school was how bad my throat hurt the next morning... Damn Seagrams extra dry

If you like an old fashioned, try ordering some other classics:
Whisky Sour
Sazerac
Manhattan
Martini
Negroni
Any good bartender would know these.

Add the Rob Roy to the list. It is a Manhattan made with scotch instead of bourbon.

A Moscow Mule is becoming a pretty popular drink. Vodka, ginger beer, lime juice. Pretty simple...bartender should know it

Shots because I'm classy like that.

Never heard of that before but definitely want to try it

Don't know what it's called but the restaurant I go to pretty regularly has a bartender that makes me a sweet tea, whiskey, and dash of real honey.
You would think, oh it's just sweet tea and honey whiskey, but I'll tell you that it is way better than the already made honey whiskey.
I like an old fashioned. I'm not big on the Moscow Mule but I do love those mugs. I like neat scotch though so I don't venture out from there much.

Old Fashioned as well
If everyone is having dessert drinks at a business dinner, I've been known to have a Brandy Alexander or White Russian, though.

I just do not like dairy in a cocktail.

I have a weak stomach for booze and the cream helps it. 9/10 I will get get a beer ("even at a cocktail bar") to avoid the issue.
