Since Jimi, Janis, Duane, Freddy, John Lennon, Sam Cooke and Otis have all been named, I have nothing to add. Except maybe Marvin Gaye. Tragic death, still fairly young, and immensely talented. He would have done a lot more.
Oh, and maybe Bob Marley.

So .... when I read the subject line my first thought was of zombie musicians and how that's just not right. Reminded me of the old W.W. Jacobs story, The Monkey's Paw.
Odd, I'd not thought of that in years and years.

Donny Hathaway would be a good one, too.

Lol. I've never read that story.

He was done, IMO. Singing gospel and wearing two sizes too tight onesies.

Yes. Lynyrd Skynyrd was about to embark on a huge second wave to their career that would have cemented them as the godfathers of modern country.

Is there any question had he lived the Beatles would have eventually reunited? At least for a few one-offs?

Keith Moon, long enough to have a beer with him.

Donny Hathaway is a name I've not thought of in years. Just watched a couple of good videos on youtube - thanks for the reminder.
And The Monkey's Paw ... it's a short story, worth reading. It's free. Might take you ten minutes.

Hendrix, but Cobain is close because I think he would still be making kick arse music today, and I can hardly listen to any of the music coming out today

If the crash had not occurred, Skynyrd would be considered way more than this, and way differently than this IMO.

Yep. The addition of Steve Gaines had them on projection to do things musically that would have been mind blowing. They were gonna be better than ever. Really a shame
