The wife's anniversary is this weekend and were trying to decide which direction to go for a weekend getaway. We've never been to Texas or The Carolinas but would like to scratch one of those off the bucket list. What say you OT?

Carolinas offer the beach and the mountains. East Texas offers...scrub pines?

That is the saddest bucket list I have ever heard of.

Carolinas, but why is it "the Wife's anniversary"?

My dear Lord, it's quite obvious that you have never been to both if this is even a question.
Go the carolinas. Do you have a specific carolina in mind, or a specific activity? Beach, mountains, old south charm, etc. That would be a factor in telling you where to go.

I love Texas and it's better than any of your states, but the answer here is Carolinas.

I'd take the Carolinas over Texas any day.

The carolinas bore the shite out of me generally, but Charleston is cool.

So many haters in here. East TX is the best place on earth.
If you want to chill on the lake for the weeken, we've got plenty of that. You want golf, we have that, too. Though I wouldn't go to the beach, that would require going to orange and it's full of WT.
Come visit NE Texas, stay at a B&B in Marshall and drive out to Caddo Lake for a steamboat tour. It's the most picturesque lake in the world. Or you can come to Tyler, the rose capital of the world, take advantage of our Southern Hospitality and stay a night on Lake Palestine and play one of our nice area golf courses.

East Texas has plenty to offer but it's pretty wet right now so I'd say the Carolinas right now

Carolinas win this question hands down.
Hilton Head Island
Kiawah Island
Isle of Palms (Charleston)
There are even some nicer houses you can rent on Daufuskie Island now too.
are all great choices.
One of the spots I'm like more as I get older though is actually Bald Head Island up near Cape Fear in NC.

Hit Charleston and Wilmington and that's a wrap.

The Carolinas are beautiful in places and the beaches are nicer than the Texas beaches I've seen, although I've never been to South Padre. NC takes the cake for having the tallest stretch of Appalachian mountains, and the Outer Banks along the coast, which are really exquisite. but its either or, mountains or beach.
