They're going to get a MAJOR upgrade at QB this year. Jeremy Johnson will be a household name from day 1. And if you're talking about losing role players, LSU lost a bunch too. Both DEs, LT, C, etc.
He only played meaningful time in one game last year, which was the first game of the year against an Arkansas team that was much better later on in the year.

There is nothing to show that LSU will be improved in the passing game.
I'm cautiously optimistic based on spring ball.

If, and it is a big if, LSU is improved on offense and doesn't take a step back on defense then they are a real threat to win the West next year. They have the talent. Until we actually see signs of that offensive improvement however I'm a bit wary of crowning them the SEC King in waiting.

And we're expecting Jennings to get some new magical physical abilities or for Harris to take over. We're in the same boat. Auburn will commit to their running game more so than LSU will and they'll have a freaking Cam Newton clone running from the QB position. That offense is going to be a nightmare again.

No doubt. A little improvement could go a long ways for us, though. And let's not forget the strides our running game made last year.

I disagree. I think Auburn will more one dimensional than last year. Marshall was a legit 4.3 guy with elusiveness. Plus they had a WR who could take the top off a defense with ease (Coates). Auburn will have neither luxury this year. Johnson is mobile but not elusive. Williams is a hot-cold player who lacks top-end speed.

Really? You think our defense will be ranked outside the top 100 next year? I would love to make that sig bet.
I can absolutely garuntee lsu's defense will be ranked higher than a&ms once again next year

Possibly, but it needs to start strong and improve rather than wander in the wilderness in the early goings and then all of a sudden wake up when the season is virtually in the shiter.

LSU will finishi in the top two in the SEC west!
If we're going to go that far, let's just say we're going to finish first ahead of either Auburn or Arkansas, pound Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl and beat either USC or Notre Dame in the NCG.
I mean really, who knows what is going to happen. Look at last season.
A&M beat a vastly overrated South Carolina which artificially inflated their rankings as well as the ratings of the teams which almost immediately began beating them, sank back to their customary level of play and then beat Auburn.
Ole Miss beat Alabama with a Petersonesque interception ruled inbound and NOT overturned by SEC officiating subsequently inflating artificially the Rebel's ranking. The Rebels, exhibiting misplaced, ill-fitting and unfamiliar hubris, subsequently are beaten by LSU in Death Valley, 10-7, only to rise again and pound Mississippi State to pulp in the Egg Bowl.
Arkansas narrowly gets beaten by Mississippi State and Alabama, destroys LSU by 17 unanswered points and turns around the next week and nearly doubles the unanswered points beating Ole Miss 30-0.
Then there is Kentucky...., I like Mint Juleps and Derby Day and their football coach. I don't know, why not Kentucky?
Post season, Alabama did what has become something of a recent Tide tradition and lost the Sugar Bowl. LSU looses to Notre Dame and the SEC East upholds SEC honor in the bowls.
We and everybody else in the West looked terrible at times and great at others. Who the frick knows except Vegas?

I honestly think I would have enjoyed being an Aggy if I didn't hate y'all so bad...something my dad instilled in me...sorry bro. But the passion you guys have and your traditions remind me of LSU in certain ways

And LSU comes to the conclusion to let the guy go who runs the defense???
Then LSU hires Kevin Steele??? wtf
For years, LSU has been telling everybody, it's just not enough to have the players, you have to have great coaches that can "coach 'em up". Kevin Steele? lulz
Did I ever mention our offense was good? thought so. Chavis is a strategist who plays containment D. Without good players, his defense doesnt work. Even though it was a top10 D, our defense lacked intensity last year and they were really young. Steele and Orgeron bring that intensity and our defense next year will be more balls to the wall and energetic than it has in the past.

Look, I'm as nervous as the next guy about the Steele hire but man oh man if it works out. We have a ton of talent on defense right now with plenty more coming on campus this fall and in the next few years. If he can get his shite together as a play caller we'll be fine. His other stints as a DC is definitely something to be worried about though.

the defense will not finish in the top 10 in the nation like it's done the past couple years.
you are spreading misinformation. our defense was awful in '13 and pretty damn bad in '14. the '14 class, the one that was statistically rated high (in the avg yds given up category) got butt stomped in 4 games. FOUR games. and we lost 5.
sure, our offense played bad in three of those butt stompings but the game was over in the second quarter in two of them due to our "highly" rated D not being able to even slow them down.
but just believe what you want to if it makes you feel better.

That will be the key. We know steele and O will be great at recruiting and coaching the fundamentals but I have a good feeling the playcalling and game plans wont be too bad. Our secondary is still going to be lock down and I think our D-line and LBers will be more aggressive and make a lot more plays in the backfield than they did with Chavis's containment D. But from watching the spring game, I think next years team will be pretty special

Well sure, that isn't going out on a limb at all. Heck as long as Sumlin is around LSU's defense will always be better by some degree, our offense isn't conducive to a bad arse a defense.
But we will have a top 70 defense next year.

A&M's def will never have great stat totals, simply by the nature of increased possessions.
Totals don't matter though, only efficiency metrics. W/L's basically come down to Points per possession for offense and defense.
I would be worried about Kevin Steele's issues against the spread (which he's had at every stop in his career).
You're looking at A&M, Ole Miss, Miss State, and Auburn every year. He'd better figure it out.

Well, in that case, you might want to take a look at what those offenses did to LSU's defenses the last few years minus A&M. And LSU had much better talent on the roster. A&M's offense will certainly not be like the shite fest LSU has put out but they better be able to keep up because Chavis' defense will give you heartburn a lot of the time.

We upgraded at QB, and RB we lost our fastest wide receiver Duke is our best and our O line will be fine. Not saying we will win Lsu is no push over team and at home they are very dangerous, but your points are just dumb

Y'all had the best defense in the SEC last year. What the hell are y'all smoking.

That's not really saying much.
MSU - L Gave up 570 yards and 34 points.
AU - L Gave up 566 yards and 41 points.
OM - W Had their number that day. Year before: 525 yards in a loss.
A&M - W But that's not anything new. Winning and shutting down that offense.
ND - L 449 yards and 31 points.
