It is ASU, Florida International and then Ohio State.

A&M also wants to grow the Engineering program to be 25,000 students by 2025.

WAY too high.
When I was in school (Fall 1996 - Spring 2000), the enrollment numbers were just over 44,100 and that was HUGE.
I can't imagine an increase of almost 20,000 students being a good thing.

Its a matter of pulling it off the right away. Acceptance standards cannot be lowered. Failout classes should not get easier. Facilities and resources should be scaled accordingly.

Gotta be careful when looking at ASU. They actually have 4 regional campuses that they count in their numbers. Tempe is still pretty huge, but not the biggest.

A $1,000 check from St Louis cashes the exact same as a $1,000 check from Mobile.
Your OOS numbers are ridiculous for a flagship university. What happens when the bubble bursts and UA stops giving all this money away to OOS students? It's not going to be pretty

Read the fricking thread old man. That is the total enrollment counting the sea and sand Aggies, not just the CSTX Ags.

Same at UA ~ I'd venture to guess that the construction/expansion projects in the last 10 years at UA is in up into the billion$. Incoming freshmen are required to live on campus, resulting in massive on-campus housing growth. UA is in the midst of a construction boom that doesn't appear to be slowing down.
Some pretty smart people see big changes coming in higher education itself and also how it is paid for. Some of these rapidly expanding universities could end up on the wrong side of history very soon.

while the numbers differ a bit, seems about right

It's just what flagship universities with the state's resources behind us can do. Auburn et al. wouldn't understand.
Then, UA finally got a damn strong President on campus and he with the help of the BOT had a vision that we are just now seeing come to fruition.
Like I said previously, UA's campus as a whole is unrecognizable to anyone that attended in the 80's/90's. My cousin now lives and works in SanFran and he came back home for the 1st time since '98 - went to the MSU game in BDS with me last year and was floored by the stadium and campus as a whole.

That's what poor Universities have to tell themselves.

Literally no one likes that plan. Very dubious at being able to pull it off.
I mean I'm not opposed to growth of that scale if we have a plan on how to utilize it, but so far I see nothing more than a cash grab and an excuse to build shiny new top of the line buildings, and having enough cash for research and professors. Don't get me wrong I love the cosmetic transformation of the engineering part of campus, but the petroleum building was ugly, I just spent time in the computer labs. At a certain point, I want to see a plan on how to transform all these kids in to better engineers. Incentivizing people in to getting Masters, more specialized degree programs, etc etc etc. I need to see things like that, instead of just more engineering drop outs.

LSU's enrollment has been steady for as long as I can remember, between 28-31k. I heard in the 90s we had 35k+ students. LSU is bringing in higher quality students and its graduation rate has gone from like 34% in the 90s to 70%. With the budget cuts looming I expect LSU to put emphasis on out of state to bring in more money and also improve its rank, which is such a dumb criteria for ranking universities anyways

Right- without the infrastructure to procure a quality education for those students, unlike flagship universities like A&M or UA who have the states' wealth behind them to grow with the students.

A lot, if not most, of campuses around the country are like this. A lot of brand new shiny buildings have popped up across college campuses. Part of the growing business of a college degree.
