Pat Forde also just said Smart worked for Grant. Which isn't true.

I thought he just said they were buds?

But Smart worked for Donovan, do you really think Donovan will say good things about Bama to Smart, when they just fired his ex assistant?

Pitino wouldn't be a bad gamble. I know people were impressed by his coaching while at UF, but thought he would be a better recruiter.
He could end up a really good coach, and Bama has the resources to convince him to stay if he starts to have success a la UF and Billy D.
Getting a proven great coach will be tough for Bama because they don't offer anything besides money.

The CM Newton connection would make things interesting though.

I doubt it, but Forde's point for Shaka Smart not taking the job is based on this belief he wouldn't want to "replace his former boss". There's a myriad of reasons why Smart isn't in play, but that's not one when Smart never coached under Grant.

Bama fans will never learn! The delusion is strong with that fanbase. How humiliating this must be for the administration and fansbase. "Don't even bother" LOL

The leading candidate according to Forde might be Rick Pitino's son. So much for bama getting a big name
You're such a moron. Pitino's son is a decent target. You shouldn't talk about things you don't know anything about.

I imagine making Marshall Bama's very public #1 choice doesn't help them getting another top coach. They won't want to be their sloppy seconds. Similarly, it hurts their prestige for everyone to know they were turned down

Don't bother. He spent three days shitting all over the other Greg Marshall thread and didn't know who he even was. He just vomits random shite onto the screen and hits submit.

No it doesnt. The idiocy spouted here never stops. It shows that theyre willing to back the truck up with a load of cash and drop it off at the right coach's door.

I know this outcome will lead to endless flaming, but at least Alabama has shown a willingness to make basketball a priority. I'm just happy to see that.
