I have it as the sec website has it. One reflects the standings of the two divisions and one reflects the standings of the conference with non-conference opponents considered. If you have such a hard time visualizing the overall conference records independent of the two divisions, you're welcome to compile that list.

But if you're referring to why I use the overall record rankings as my numerical basis for ranking the upcoming games, I did so because I feel like non-conference consideration is more indicative right now of where teams are at. In a couple of weeks, I'd probably use straight up conference standings as opposed to overall record

Rebuilding years suck.. But if our bats get going at some point this season our Friday Saturday pitching is good enough to keep us in the game with any team in the country. Not having a Sunday arm, though is going to keep us from advancing out of whatever regional we earn a 3 seed to.

Compared to your thread with the list and standings you put together, it really is. Oh wait.

Using overall record to rank the conference is not looking at the whole picture. Use RPI or some for of measurement that takes into account who you have played, SOS, etc. Or figure out all the tiebreakers and use conference record to make standings with both divisions.

The difference would be marginal at best.

Simply put, A&M, LSU, Vandy, UF, and Mizzou are leading the pack right now.

Arky, Auburn, and Tennessee are bringing up the rear.

Everyone in between has a mixture of strengths and weaknesses that are going to be hashed out over the next couple of weeks.

I spent enough time on the OP simply trying to gin up conversation about the baseball season and, instead, I'm getting people pissing and moaning because I didn't make it easy for them by combining the two divisions. So, here, a list for you:

CONFERENCE STANDINGS WITHOUT DIVISIONS, IN ORDER
1. A&M
2. VANDY
3. MIZZOU
4. LSU
5. SOUTH CAROLINA
6. FLORIDA
7. UGA
8. BAMA
9. OLE MISS
10. MSU
11. UK
12. AUBURN
13. ARKY
14. VOLS

SEC Baseball Standings (as of 3/22/15)

While I usually enjoy the college baseball season, I think this year I'll just be happy to see it over to be honest. Not going to be our finest year.

If y'all play like you did Thursday you will be in the post season...

You realize that there is no metric that could possibly make Mississippi baseball look better, right?

That said, why don't you do it, you lazy frick.

It's nice that our schedule chills the frick out for a second. We've played at UCF, at LSU, at Louisville and at home against Florida. We've gone 5-6 in those games which isn't too bad.

Our next few series are at Arkansas, vs. UT, at Vandy, at Auburn and vs. Alabama. All of those, save Vandy, are winnable series.

Maybe I'm not trying to you ignorant frick. I'm trying to get a more accurate look at the conference as as whole up to this point in the season.
