Carnell led Auburn to an undefeated season in 2004. Something Georgia has only done 1 time since 1946. Seems pretty legendary to me
1165 yards
12 TDs
4.9 YPC
That constitutes as legendary at Auburn?

IMO there's nothing wrong with calling him an Auburn legend. He was extremely productive and formed a great tandem backfield with Ronnie Brown. Pretty cool that both of those guys would be selected in the top 5 of the same NFL draft.
On a national scale, there's no way he (and James Brooks) are considered legends like Bo.

I agree that "position U" is stupid in general. However, ESPN - who is more credible than any individual poster on this board - has declared AR running backs U. Even though I think that was just for a particular decade (2000s?), I am going to claim it.
Seriously, about 5 teams are really pretty much all even.
I do love watching great running backs play, and my current pic for the best is Chubb.

Horrible way to look at it. Many programs rotate backs frequently, others don't.

I thought 'Insert Position" U was about putting guys into the NFL for that respective position not the stats they put up.

Well done.
Amazing that some of the SECr veterans we have on here continue to swallow it hook, line and sinker even when the bait wasn't meant for them.

How many times has an SEC school ended the year with the conferences leading rusher?
Alabama - 10 Auburn - 10 Florida - 8 Georgia - 7 LSU - 6 Tennessee - 6 Kentucky - 3 Arkansas - 2 Ole Miss - 2 Mississippi State - 2 Texas A&M - 1 Tulane - 1 Vandy - 1
Texas A&M is the highest on a % basis, so....print the shirts

Well, I mean he did split his time in the backfield with Ronnie Brown.

quote:Carnell Williams is 4th in SEC history with 45 rushing touchdowns and 11th in SEC with 3,831 yards rushing...all while missing 8 games in his career. I'd say this pretty damn incredible. Also throw into account that he had to share the rock with Ronnie Brown through most of his career, and both went top 5 in the same NFL Draft.

With LSU for instance, they have 1 (wow a whole 1!) more 1000 yard rusher, but have less league leaders
You guys uses Gurley as an every down back - we had 4 last season. So of course the total yards will be divided up.

Auburn also rotates rushers a lot more than people acknowledge.

Many are not elite....I agree but was just trying to compare to the AU list the guy made as well as the others like LSU, Bama, Arkansas. My list just included our best RBs like theirs did. Almost put Sanks on there but just couldn't. All of those guys had good to great stretches where they carried the load for short to long periods of time. Probably should have put Danny Ware on there now that I think of it.
Getting real....UGA, AU, LSU, Bama, Arkansas, UT, UF have about a handful of guys that are considered elite.

Last 10 years, LSU hasn't relied on 1 or 2 backs to tote the rock.
So stats won't be as good for 1 player.
