Yeah it is obviously something he won't be able to pull off at the next level, but against most college level PG's he can handle it just fine.
Plus it isn't like he guards them for an entire possession. He'll switch back to whoever he was guarding whenever they can.

which is why yalls examples are dumb. lots of big men switch off on guards for 10 seconds at a time.
WCS cannot guard PGs. He's deserving of the award because he's a badass defender. But that comment is retarded.

I don't think a lot of people understand how many shots WCS alters per game. He may not lead the conference in blocks, but he makes it almost impossible for people to come to the lane, and when they do, there's such a small chance of getting it past him.

I really dont care who wins but WCS cannot guard PG's. That's kinda funny.
LOL, what?

He's the best at doing in CBB right now. His ability to move his feet like he does at his size is a massive reason why he will be a top 10 draft pick.

We're not the only people saying it.
This one example of many.

Plus he spends majority of his time on the court next to an elite level shot blocker in Towns.

Yep. Pretty sure he also getting a significant less amount of minutes on the floor.

that doesnt matter. The award isnt based on "what if he had more minutes". But he's deserving anyway.
I'll just pretend you didnt link me to sb nation earlier.

WCS is a great player, but due to UK having 4000000 great players, he just didn't have the minutes to earn this award IMO.
He follows in a fine tradition that includes Kentucky players not even having to play a full season to win the award like Nerlens Noel.

Cauley-Stein is great at the same three things. He can finish lobs, he can rebound, and he’s so quick and long that strength is irrelevant. He can guard anyone, and he helps the whole defense.

Cauley-Stein is quick enough to cover insane amounts of ground on defense and stick with college players half his size, and he’s long enough to bother every shot within 10 feet
How about Grantland?

He deserves it. I think some LSU fans are disappointed that Mickey was not recognized when he spent 2/3 of the season being the front runner for CPOTY. That being said, the conference team is very good and the SEC had a ton of worthy selections. I still stand by the statement that Nerlens Noel should not have gotten CDPOTY.
