Should Auburn and Alabama stop flipping recruits from each other?

Alabama
Jonathan Atchinson
Brent Calloway (eventually signed with Alabama)
Cyrus Kouandjio
TJ Yeldon
Reuben Foster (eventually signed with Alabama)
Dee Liner
Auburn
Melvin Ray (signed with Alabama in 2008, walked on to Auburn)
Corey Grant (signed with Alabama in 2009, transferred to Auburn)
Craig Sanders
Brent Calloway (eventually signed with Alabama)
Reuben Foster (eventually signed with Alabama)
Kalvarez Bessent
Stephen Roberts
Other than 3 players (TJ Yeldon, Cyrus Kouandjio and Corey Grant) there hasn't been any real success on the college level. We have some that are yet to be seen (Melvin Ray, Stephen Roberts and Reuben Foster) and also some huge busts (Craig Sanders, Kal Bessent, Brent Calloway, Jon Atchinson and Dee Liner). Did I leave anyone out?
Just following some of the careers of these guys, would it be wise for Auburn and Alabama to stop flipping guys from each other? I threw in transfers as well... Also, if there was a recruit that flipped from Alabama to Auburn, then back to Alabama (or likewise) - he was counted on both lists.

Melvin Ray played baseball instead of going to Bama. I'm not sure I would consider that a flip. Calloway was a Bama commit for a year before he flipped to Auburn at the all star game three weeks before signing day. I would say Bama held on to him more than Bama flipped him.

No. I get your point, but Bama had two 3 year starters on the list you gave. Both started at highly important positions. Roberts may end up being a valued contributor to AU this year (like Grant has been in past seasons).
I think it seems like a bigger deal b/c it is Bama and AU, but both teams have flipped kids from other schools with similar mixed success rates.

quote:Alabama held on to him all of that time because Auburn was recruiting him as a linebacker just like Alabama. Auburn later started recruiting him as a running back (Rivals even changed his position), flipped him, forced Alabama to start recruiting him for the same and Alabama flipped him back.

It was a flip.

He's gotten some pretty good time, especially when Johnson is playing. They seem to have a pretty good connection on the field too. Ray has been his go to guy when he's been QB.

Consider this for a minute. Alabama landed Cyrus Kouandjio, but Auburn had Greg Robinson during that same time frame. Alabama landed TJ Yeldon, but Auburn had Tre Mason and Cam Artis-Payne during that same time frame. The 3 Auburn players, when starting, outperformed those Alabama players.

One of these doesn't belong.

A few players doesn't make up a whole recruiting class and Bama has killed it going on nearly a decade

quote:He was basically depth on some terrible defenses. He started his career off by being a beast on special teams, but that tailed off later because he got a bit bigger and slower. In the end, he only gathered 2.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss and 52 tackles in a 4 year career.
While Sanders wasn't a dominate DE or anything, he was a solid player on an SECC team. He sure as hell shouldn't be listed with those other clowns.
I don't know that I would label him a solid player, and now that I think about it probably not a bust either.
FWIW, he won 2 SEC Championships.

Stop trolling. Yeldon and Cyrus were huge in us winning multiple titles.

The only time he was heard from last year was the first half of the Arky game.......not coincidentally, JJ was the QB. Ray had a great first half that game.

Outside of playing in Scot Loeffler's abortion of an offense, redshirting and having to sit out a year, he managed to accumulate 1,011 yards on 126 carries (8 yards per carry) and 9 touchdowns. He also managed 100 yards receiver, 1 touchdown, 563 return yards and another touchdown.
He was an all-around player for Gus Malzahn.

Tre Mason and Cam Artis-Payne both outperformed TJ Yeldon, Greg Robinson was incredible in 2013 and was eventually taken #2 overall in the NFL Draft.
