Should the NCAA let kids transfer without penalty if they can prove the a coach lied to them?
For example, it they can show a text or something where the coach assured the kid that his position coach was not taking another job, but then the position coach took another job the week after signing day. Or if the coach promises that they won't take another running back commit, but they sign another RB commit.
On the one hand, it seems like a can of worms that would be impossible to police. On the other hand, we ought not reward coaches who lie to recruits, nor punish recruits who were lied to.

You commit to a school not a coach. If recruits commited to a coach then that's their problem.

Just need to remove the recruiting process all together and have combines and a draft.

It doesn't just seem like that, it IS a can of worms that would be impossible to police.

Wouldn't be fair
A&M would have the #1 pick every year

I'd rather let them get out of their LOI's if this happens

wow. great idea. after I sign, the bidding can continue. if I can "prove" this, i'm gonna start or I head to the press.

Maybe. But what if I could show the NCAA a text from, say, Gary Patterson ensuring me that the DC will be coaching at TCU next year. In such a case, isn't it the right thing to do to let me transfer without penalty?

But that's the reality. All those 5 stars aren't committing to Alabama, the school. They're committing to Nick Saban and the Process.
However, this is an injustice that will not ever be solved as it would mean the NCAA admitting that high school athletes choose schools for athletics, not academics (which is the crux of their argument in court ATM).

They would probably just laugh and call you a whiny bitch.

Should be able to transfer without penalty regardless.

This. Release from what is essentially their contract to the school (and vice versa). Let them reopen their recruitment. However, once they step on campus, the current transfer process would have to play out under the NCAA's current manifestation.

This is what you really meant.

Nope. But your paranoia pleases me.

I don't. It would become free agency at that point. Good teams would recruit guys on bad teams to try to convince them to fill holes on their current roster.

If you want it to stop, make coaches sit out a year if they decide to "transfer" jobs to another FBS school.
