I love my DAWGS, and I agree with the fact that we overall fall in line with how we rank in recruiting each year. But I can't really say that we haven't underachieved in at crucial times in the last decade. I feel like 2007 was a year we should have won a MNC. Two just bad games against SC and UT kept us out of being in the title game and effectively ended colt brennan's career as a football player. As well as the ESPN interviews of the coaches, but we won't get into that. Everybody knows about 2012. I'd also include 2005. I'm not complaining about an SEC championship, but a flat game against UF followed up by a ridiculous end of game loss against the barn really hurt our chances to achieve more. To make it even sweeter, we got handled in the Sugar Bowl. Lastly I'd say 2008. Anytime you start out as #1 and your ranking goes down despite winning games, I have to say thats an underachievement. The difference between us and these other SEC teams that we've taken down head to head as of late, is that they are capitalizing when they have these little windows unlike us. I'm not downing our boys, I'm just merely stating my observations.

To be completely fair, I'd take a national title and a national title loss with a 5-9 record to Auburn over the last 14 years over what we've done. I don't know if I would sacrifice any of that for their 2012 season though

I'd take all of it for a national title. frick clinging to embarrassing moral victories.

That said, really excited to see the program pull it's weight and really put the hammer down. Watching those little shits squirm certainly puts a smile on my face.

To be completely fair, I want nothing they have. Nothing. They won one national title with a player who really wanted to be a gator but was kicked off the team for stealing, and they lost a title game with a player who really wanted to be a Dawg but was kicked off the team for stealing. They sold their soul to scrounge around the dixie dumpsters of the SEC looking for the moral casualties of better programs to use as mercenaries. They overlook the past crimes of these players and cover up all of the current ones in the desperate hope they can beat their big brothers and academic/moral integrity be dam*ed.

I wouldn't trade anything we have for that. We will continue to win doing it the right way and we will get our shot without having to stoop to their level. Which will have the added benefit of getting to watch their heads explode when we do it.

Meanwhile, we continue to kick that Auburn arse on and off the field. Good times.

Great rant and I agree 100%. UGA shut down UT recruiting in Ga and effectively ended Fulmers career. Looks like we're about to do it to AU. Bottom line, they can't win without very good recruiting in Ga. They are quite vulnerable, I suspect some of the old timers sense this. Young ones just think tipped passes and kick-six are how things work. They're in for yrs of misery...hope to enjoy every minute of it.

I can agree with 07. O8 we had so many injuries and lineman go down it's hard to say they underachieved.

Given this is our recruiting thread, what I see is a huge change in recruiting philosophy. Before I think we underachieved in recruiting because there seemed to be no continuity or focused recruiting on all aspects of the team. Year after year the glamour boys got recruited, but not linemen. Also I see the team flowing from good to good with the current recruiting style. Before it was up, then rebuild. I don't know who is responsible for the change in focus but he/they deserve raises.

Sheeeesh Everybody at UGA ????????

- 2017 4* ATH Malcolm Askew said he was very close to committing earlier in the week, which is pretty big considering he was thought to be a heavy Bama lean. He's still on campus though and hinting at a surprise...
- 2016 4* OLB Jaleel Laguins back on campus, hanging around
- Kyle Davis and Holyfield both plan to reveal their top 10 during The Opening (Davis is a Dawg lock at this point).
- 2016 3* ATH Jalen Elliott was back in town again after visiting AUburn.
- It seems Jaqua Daniels is indeed expected to qualify now so... it'll be either him, Holyfield, or both (I'd say both, but you've got Kurt Taylor, Macfarland, and Trey Sermon to consider in 2017)

Have you considered it could be Pruitt instead of Richt causing all of this?

I think most of us believe that Pruitt is the driving force behind Richt's renewed efforts.

Pruitt brought the fresh blood and ideas, but make no mistake: everything has to go by Richt before it happens. I think Mark is seeing the 15 years that have gone by, seeing guys like McLendon and Brown now on his staff as assistant coaches, looking at the next 5 years and deciding that it's now or never. He's willing to take in and use innovative ideas from all sides, press for the funds needed to compete, all to make the run at a natty he has been missing all these years. Pruitt isn't the reason; he was just the first step in the right direction.

Remember, Pruitt wasn't some no-name DC that turned out to be a diamond in the rough. He was a high-priced, highly successful young DC that Richt straight cherry picked from FSU. He could have made a run at a lot of other DCs but chose this guy for a reason; Richt knew new blood was needed and that new ideas would be welcomed with the new SEC TV contracts. This was planned. Don't think Richt isn't the real driving force.
