All these posts remind me of 4 year old children whining because they don't get their way.
Those donations to the academic side make the university better and improves the entire college experience for athletes and students alike. If you want football only, then remove the Georgia name from all uniforms and any references to the football program.
The university has improved its reputation in the academic community over the last 30 years.
Anyone is welcome to donate to the AA or not. We set up a scholarship in memory of my son-in-law when he passed away at age 31. We set it up through the AA, but it funds an academic scholarship for a non-revenue sport. I also make my annual Hartman Fund donation and purchase four season tickets. The Boys & Girls Club in Athens gets my tickets for several games that I don't attend.

Funny. I didn't hear that. I heard hard working folks threatening to withhold their money from an organization which elicits said monies fraudulently by claiming one thing when the reality is another.

People sometimes stop subsidizing the bad behavior of others when allowed the freedom to do so...

That's really great. You seem better than those who believe we should strive for excellence in both the Academic and Athletic departments. You should feel superior.

Last I checked, the AA already has some money to burn on things like scholarships and improving the academic experience. If they want to do more than that, they know where they can send a detailed list of exactly where my money is going to go and I will make a decision to donate or not to. Right now, I think I'll hold on to the money I bust my arse for until the leaders decide to start leading in a manner that I agree with.

Then I will move all mine and my kids donations to the GA Fund and they can all be Presidents Club Fellows and 3rd Pillar. At least we will get the Glory for the donations and not McGarity. Sounds like his P&L is just fine without us...

By all means, donate to the general fund. However, the point of this thread, is they are gathering money under false pretense. I do not support a bait and switch. The same way I would be pissed if I donated to the local police/fire and they ended up giving the money to the local school. If I donate to a specific cause, I expect my money to go to that cause.
