Christmas in Mississippi: The Verdict.

After spending Christmas in Mississippi, I believe I would be happy living there. The friendly culture and environment is very similar to East Texas. Why the hell does the nation knock it so much? Geez. A few dumbshit rednecks get out of control 50 years ago and it seems the place is condemed for eternity.
Anyway, great visit. Beautiful state. Friendly culture. I'm a fan of The Great State of Mississippi.
Of course, if I were to move there from Texas, doing so would increase the average IQ of both States.

I've always loved Mississippi, and I was in the Jackson area a few days with the lady. It gets a bad rap, but I will say there is some good food and a lot of hot women around.

I made this very statement when traveling to Palestine, TX last week.

Did you make it to any restaurants or attractions in Hattiesburg?

Hmmmmm yep, funny but Hattiesburg is very similar to other southern college towns. My best friend (who is an LSU grad) recently moved there and exact comment was "it is sort of like a smaller Baton Rouge with a lot LESS CRIME.

A lot of people pick on Mississippi but I can honestly say that every Mississippian I've ever met has either been really cool and/or nice. I'm sure there are plenty of rednecks and lowlifes but not among the small group of Mississippi natives I've come across. And yes, there are some mighty fine women that reside there.
I would have to respectfully disagree about it being a "beautiful" state though. It's not ugly but landscape wise it's pretty non descript area. It along with Louisiana is much less interesting topographically than the states it borders

I spent a few days in Grenada fishing in the Crappie Masters tournament several years ago.
Thought it was a decent enough place and the East Texas culture comparison is something I can agree with.

It's just too easy to knock a place with the highest poverty rate in the nation, the worst education, lowest literacy rate, highest obesity rate, and the state that didn't technically outlaw slavery until the late 1990s.

I was forced to live in Columbus for two years of my life so my opinion of Mississippi as a state will always be bad. Even though it's a bad sample size to be honest.

The best thing to come out of Mississippi is I-20. Dont kid yourself.

You do realize that if it wasn't for the North Shore, Louisiana would probably take the lead in every category you listed

Hey... don't knock the Myrtle/New Albany/Cotton Plant metroplex area.

Not every state has luxurious havens such as Donaldsonville, Greensburg and St. Martinsville.

Everyone wishes they could live in Montgomery.

I so sorry! I swear that area is not indicative of the State as a whole. Hell it is really more Western Bama than Sip.
