Surely you jest.....please say you are kidding

Thank You for the kind words.
Although, it's my personal opinion that the biggest assholes in the world come from East Texas and work in the Poultry Industry.

I thought the sarcasm was pretty clear. Have you ever driven through Hwy 31 in Montgomery? If you are referencing the La. post, those towns are almost as putrid as the Plank Road and Scenic Hwy area in Baton Rouge.

I know Breaux, anyone that claims Montgomery as nice has to be joking.

As far as those rankings go.... The delta weighs us down sooooo much... If we could cut out the delta we would be like 23rd in education and much higher in poverty

Yep, the Delta drags us way down. One of my buddies who is into stats calculated that if Mississippi removed 6 Delta counties(I don't know which counties) we'd jump to 31st in education. The East Texas references are spot on. My brother moved to Dallas, and one of my best friends moved to a small town between Dallas and Houston. They both say East Texas is similar to Mississippi.

Lived in Texas for 20 years now and I cannot wait to retire to North Mississippi one day.

I made this very statement when traveling to Palestine, TX last week.
Please take this down before the "Texas is not the South" people see it.

I like Mississippi as well. I love the South though and can find something I like about most Southern states. My favorites are TN, NC, NW Arky, Alabama, Florida, GA. I love LA for their food.

Did you make it to any restaurants or attractions in Hattiesburg?
There's a HUGE comedy place there. It's on Hardy Street. Can't miss it...a lot of big buildings and, IIRC, a big clock tower up front.
Loads of laughs and cheap entertainment from there.

I live in Hattiesburg. It's nice. Stationed at Camp Shelby which is not

You could also say the exact same thing about the dozen or so Black Belt counties in Alabama. If Alabama didn't have to count them they'd be middle of the pack in a lot of rankings.

Yep...that's just where they perform their acts.

I would have to respectfully disagree about it being a "beautiful" state though. It's not ugly but landscape wise it's pretty non descript area. It along with Louisiana is much less interesting topographically than the states it borders
Dude, he's comparing it to east Texas. Ever been there?

Mississipi sucks.
I strongly urge anyone who has never visited the state to stay far, far away. Don't ever consider even driving through on your way elsewhere.
I repeat, Mississippi sucks. In particular the extreme NE corner near the AL/TN state lines. Awful, awful place.
Stay the hell away. I mean it.

I grew up in the worst part of Mississippi and I wouldn't change it. It's a great place to grow up because everyone knows each other and it's much safer than a lot of places. People want to see Mississippi as some horrible place but it's really not. But the simpletons don't want to learn more about the state because it's easier to point and laugh at all the bad things and things that happened 50 years ago

We just passed the thirteenth amendment officially last year or the year before.
Personally I hate Mississippi but it's home and I don't like when other people talk shite about it.

I probably live in what most people refer to as the most "depressed " part of Mississippi , the Delta . I have lived in Houston Texas , Memphis Tennessee , Virginia , Nashville Tennessee . I wouldn't live in the rat race that many people live in ( Atlanta , Los Angeles , Dallas ) we have the best hunting and fishing anywhere . I have great friends , would not live anywhere else . I've lived in eastern Europe , vacationed in the Carribean , played golf in Scotland . I'm fine right here . Run it down all you want . We did finish ranked first in one category . Hospitality . That works for me .
